Square 1 Art Fundraiser
For years our school has participated in the Square 1 Art fundraiser. Every MYES student creates a piece of art and has the ability to purchase items with their very own art on it! The timing of the fundraiser is in the fall so there is time to order gifts for your student, family, or friends for the holidays! All funds go towards purchasing art supplies to benefit all students.
The company will send me individual catalogs for each student to go home the week of November 5th. In years past the students have received a free pack of stickers with their artwork on them. I was informed recently that square 1 cannot accommodate that this year because of supply issues. Student artwork will be shipped back to me from square 1 the first week in December to be distributed.

RACE FOR EDUCATION
Our 6th Annual Race For Education was a huge success! We raised over $23,000 exceeding our goal by 25%! On October 22nd students enjoyed racing around the track to music provided by Number One Sound Entertainment! We had 13 students throwing pies at Race Woman and various faculty members. Our top earning class was Mrs. Leatherman’s Class, raising $2,296 and our top student fundraiser was Micaela M. in Mrs. Skowronski’s 5th grade class, raising $894. The top ten winners enjoyed a variety of prizes ranging from slime to elevated experiences like Tree Trekkers and Fourth Dimension. Our top 3 earning classes enjoyed their choice of a kick-ball game, extra recess or a PJ day and our top earning classroom teacher was gifted a $25 Amazon gift card. The school had 5 prize sponsors donating prizes valued at over $600. Tri State Home Services was our company sponsor donating $500 and we had an anonymous donor donating the cost of our DJ at $200. We would like to thank all the students, their families and our sponsors for making our Race for Education an overwhelming success!
TRUNK OR TREAT
Monday November 1st at 6pm MYES PTA kicked off the first annual trunk or treat event. Generous amounts of candy was donated for the event by parents and the Myersville community. Twenty-two families volunteered to decorate their vehicle's trunk. The creativity and imagination that went in to designing and executing the trunks was incredible. When the sun went down, many trunks had fun lights.
An estimated 200 kids showed up and wandered from car to car to collect the goodies, pencils, bubbles, tattoos, and stickers. Over 150 votes were cast for the best trunk. Mrs. Rouzee's Jurassic World trunk #14 was the winner of best overall trunk with 35 votes. She recieved a $25 Starbucks gift card. Mrs. Johnson's bubble gum trunk #7 was the runner up with 25 votes. Kids showed up in costume, danced with their friends to Halloween jams, admired the decorations, played on the playground, and ran around the track.
The temperature dropped pretty quickly and the event ended at 730pm, the perfect time for kids to get home for school the next day.

FCPS Regulation 400-98 mandates that a school letter be mailed when a student accumulates 3 days of unlawful absences in any marking term.
Anytime your child will be absent from school, please either send in a handwritten note or you can email MYES.Attendance@fcps.org. If you'd like to include your child's teacher in the email as a courtesy, it would be appreciated.
Absences considered lawful and therefore excused, as described in the Public School Laws and Code of Bylaws of the Maryland State Board of Education, are:
- Illness of the student
- Death in the immediate family
- Court summons
- Hazardous weather condition
- Work or activity accepted by the school authorities
- Observance of religious holiday up to 3 days

Food and Nutrition Services
Frederick County Public Schools, Food and Nutrition Services announces participation in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) for the 2021-2022 school year. SSO is part of the National School Breakfast and National School Lunch Program and has been approved by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to allow all children enrolled at Frederick County Public Schools to receive meals for free.
We encourage families to complete the free and reduced-price meal benefits application even though all children receive meals at no charge because the USDA provides funds that support the nutrition program based on your child’s eligibility. Eligibility for free or reduced-price meal reimbursement is based on the following annual income eligibility guidelines effective from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022. Free and reduced-price meal benefits are available at all Frederick County Public Schools. Online and printable applications can be found at www.fcps.org/meals.
To reduce the number of close contacts and potential exposure, parents will not be allowed to visit in the lunchroom. We will monitor health metrics and school data and share when this restriction can be lifted.
MYES Vision Statement
