There are only a few days left, so please complete this short survey. Share your suggestions to help guide decisions on extracurriculars for the 2022-2023 school year! OGS Extracurricular Activities Survey (google.com) The PTO & school administration are working collaboratively to determine interest areas and needed resources. Your response is important to evaluating both new and the continuation of existing clubs & activities for next year. Multicultural Fair 2022!
Have you been wanting to take your child out of the country? It can be so expensive and difficult to travel these days! We have a solution for you! On May 14th, from 3-5 pm, we're inviting you and your family to travel with us and be immersed in beautiful cultures from all over the world! Over the past month students in grades K-5 have been learning about different countries; K - Brazil, 1st - Poland, 2nd - China, 3rd - India, 4th - Nigeria, & 5th - Peru! In all of these classroom experiences the students were able to hear a language spoken in that country by counting, sharing facts, and more! You may have seen flags come home or special projects that helped the students learn about the culture. In grades K-4, students were able to play games that were/are popular in those countries as well.
On May 14th you can travel to more than 30 different countries with us! Students will arrive with their adult and apply for a passport. After the passport application students will be invited to stop at booth after booth tasting food, hearing about special events, traditions, and the beautiful cultures that bring our Oak Grove Community together. We will even have performances for you to enjoy! Please join us on Saturday, May 14th from 3:00-5:00 pm.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week

Please help us celebrate the OGS team by encouraging your students to take a moment to write a note, draw a picture or send an email to their amazing Oak Grove teachers. It goes without saying that OGS has some of the very best teachers around; they most certainly deserve to feel loved and supported after all that they have given to our students!

All for Books Dollar Challenge Starts Today!
The All for Books Dollar Challenge is back during the Spring Book Fair! This year, OGS is raising money to buy books for Reading Power! Reading Power partners with underfunded schools in Zion, North Chicago, and Waukegan to provide one-to-one literacy tutoring. The OGS K-4 and 5-8 classes that collect the most money during the challenge will win a popsicle party. Money raised will be used to buy Scholastic books for Reading Power’s classrooms. This is the perfect opportunity for students to earn some extra allowance money to donate to a great cause!
Spring BOGO Book Fair May 9-12
The K-8 Spring BOGO Scholastic book fair is next week, May 9th - 12th in the Junior High Library. Parents are welcome to shop the fair with students during their designated class room dates & times. Family Night will be held on the 11th from 5pm – 8:30pm. Scholastic has eWallets, which is a cashless way to shop. OGEA Eagle Scholarship
The Oak Grove Education Association is proud to present the seventh annual Eagle Scholarship given to an Oak Grove alum who has demonstrated excellence in academics, character, extracurricular activities, and service. The OGEA represents the certified staff at Oak Grove School. Our educators are committed to the success of all current and former students.
The 2022 recipient of Oak Grove’s Eagle Scholarship displayed the impact Oak Grove had on his high school career. In his words, "throughout my 9 years at Oak Grove, my teachers had continuously instilled a passion into my education. This desire for a broader and deeper understanding has continued throughout my high school career". Andrew Sorensen participated in multiple activities including Environmental Club, Life of a Wildcat, Wildcat Rise and National Honor Society. Andrew also balanced an athletic career that included soccer, basketball and volleyball. Andrew's success at LHS is proof of his commitment to hard work and the OGEA is proud to have played a small part in his accomplishments. Additionally, the OGEA is excited to see how Andrew will positively impact the world as his future unfolds. Congratulations Andrew Sorensen and good luck in the future!
CONGRATULATIONS ARTISTS!
We are very excited to finally be back at Pauly Honda to showcase Oak Grove student art work in the waiting area and office spaces.
*Please note that there is NOT an opening reception for all artists this year. Due to the ongoing pandemic, Pauly Honda is choosing to keep the reception small, so we are allowing only 7th and 8th grade artists to attend as it is likely their last Honda Art Show. Those families should have received their invitation to this smaller event.
ALL FAMILIES will be able to stop by Pauly Honda during regular business hours to see their artwork on display. Artwork will remain at Pauly Honda until May of 2023.
