Welcome to Semester 2 - TechDems
Technology Demonstrators has been a little quiet lately as we catch our breath after Sem 1 and move into Sem 2. (You too, right?). However, we have lots planned ...and this newsletter only covers part of it. Make sure you share this with colleagues and plan to join, sign up and participate in activities that interest you.

Engage with Technology Demonstrators in Semester 2
How can YOU engage with TechDems this semester? We have an exciting schedule of events including CoP sessions, SIG meetings, information sessions and awareness sessions.
You will find all events, SIGs, CoPs and more on our EVENTS page.
Put the next TechDem CoP session on your calendar: Tuesday August 30.
Join TechDems via the form below to be updated all the time!
Click the button to access our SIG web pages with lots of great resources! SIG meetings bring together like-minded people for great conversations, sharing and peer support. Get a head start on 2013 by joining a SIG and planning to embed digital learning to enhance student outcomes.
What SIGs can you join?
MS for Teaching
This SIG has been revitalised after a slow start to the year. We are now looking at how we can leverage the Microsoft O365 suite of tools for learning and teaching.
This semester we have two meetings where we will be sharing some of the ways our colleagues are already using these Microsoft Teams, OneNote Class NoteBook, Sway and Powerpoint (like you've never seen it before 😉). We look forward to growing the group and sharing our learning together.
Meetings will take place on Tuesday August 9th and Friday October 7th (times to be confirmed)
Register your interest here.
Engageli Pilot
Semester 2 continues the UniSQ Engageli Pilot. It is not too late to join!
Between August 4 and December 15 we are holding TEN Engageli Awareness online sessions. Sessions are on Thursday mornings, 9-10am in Engageli. See the Events calendar for specific sessions.
If you are curious, or already participating and want to learn more (sharpen those skills!) please come along. Get ready for Sem 3 and Sem 1 2023 - or just come along and play with the new technology.
Creating a Virtual Campus
Recently Julie, in collaboration with Engageli, participated in an international roundtable discussion inspired by the co-written blog post 'Creating a Virtual Campus'. You are invited to:
- READ the blogpost
- WATCH the session via this Engageli Playback room (use Chrome browser)
The image below represents an interpretation of HyFlex learning and is described in the blog post. This informs the FutureLearn.com course Julie and Dr Lisa Jacka are co-writing. Watch this space!
Consider these questions - TechDems will provide additional workshops and opportunities to share your ideas this year:
- What are your thoughts about the Virtual Campus and how it relates to our learning and teaching at UniSQ?
- What are your ideas around and interpretation of HyFlex learning and teaching?
Don't wait any longer - Read more and SIGN UP to share a ThinkPiece now!
Want to learn more about what a ThinkPiece is and how to create one? Join the ThinkPiece Conversations Workshop, Tuesday August 2. RSVP via the form below.
