Class Placement Reminder
New Yearbook Delivery Timeline Announced
Beginning this year, we will not be taking delivery of our yearbooks before the end of the school year. The reason for this change is so that we can include things like 8th grade graduation, spring sports, and anything else that might occur after our typical annual deadline. We feel these events are very important and unfortunately in the past, they were omitted in order to meet our deadline.
We know that "yearbook signing" is an activity that the students look forward to each year, so we will be taking delivery of autograph books instead of an actual yearbook. These will be distributed to students before the last day of school and we will have our signing session as usual. Once the yearbooks are delivered to students, they can simply add the autograph book to the yearbook. We want the yearbook to be a complete reflection of the year's activities. By adding the autograph book we believe we can accomplish both.
Our plan is to deliver yearbooks to students in the Fall, but we will be in touch with graduates and families leaving the District about yearbook delivery over the summer. While not going home for the summer with a yearbook may be a bit disappointing for some students, we hope that the extra content that we will be able to include will more than make up for it. Thank you for your understanding!

Curriculum Corner
Hello Oak Grove Community,
PARCC
As I mentioned in March, the PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of College & Career Readiness) testing window this year will be April 11th through the 22nd, depending on the grade level of the students. The make-up window for all grades will be the week of April 25th-29th.
During this time, it will be necessary for all students in grades 3 through 8 to have working headphones at school. Portions of the assessment will require students to listen to information and craft a response. If your child does not have working headphones at school, please ensure that your child has a pair for the testing window.
Grade 3: April 12-14, 19-22
Grade 4: April 19-22
Grade 5: April 19-22
Grade 6: April 19-21
Grade 7: April 12-14
Grade 8: April 12-14
World Language Resource Review: March 31st - April 13th
The Director of Curriculum and the World Language team are interested in receiving feedback on our resource recommendations for extending our French and Spanish programing. The resources are available for review in the Oak Grove District Office between the hours of 8 am to 4:30 pm. You are welcome to stop by and see the resources we are considering for 2016-2017 implementation. The resources being considered are all aligned to a common philosophy supported by our LHS colleagues and will ensure continued differentiation within every classroom. If you have specific questions regarding our resources, please feel free to contact Dr. Sarah Cacciatore.
Thank you and have a great week!
Congratulations Ms. Honaker!
Congratulations to Oak Grove Tech Coach, Allison Honaker. She has been invited to attend the Apple Distinguished Educators Institute this July in Berlin, Germany!
Apple's invitation was extended to only 400 persons, worldwide, so Ms. Honaker is in elite company! The purpose of the Apple Institute is to develop content and promote powerful ideas for improving teaching and learning worldwide.
Congratulations, Allison--your Oak Grove family is proud of you!
6-8 Laptop Take Home Program Deadline
Last week we equipped 93 students in grades 6-8 with cases and chargers so that they could participate in the laptop take home program. We are now completely out of supplies.
We will continue to accept forms until Friday, April 8th. At this time we will order additional supplies to accommodate any student that turned in a form between April 1 and April 8. Anyone else that would like to participate in the laptop take home program will need to wait until the 2016-17 school year.
OGSEF Presents Check to Oak Grove
The Oak Grove School Education Foundation donated $25,000 to the school board at its meeting on March 29th. The monies came from the proceeds from this year's highly successful Gala.
The school district will use the funds to purchase equipment for the new Green Screen/Production room. You can see a short video of student work on the Oak Grove website.
