PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Winter has finally settled in! It is nice to see the kids running around and playing in the snow. Back in November our kids participated in the Bath Area Food Bank canned food drive, and the collection was amazing. In December, we collaborated with Main Street Bath and did a holiday card collection to be distributed to area senior centers. These are great ways to have the students be giving members of the larger community in which they live. If you have any ideas that will help us keep this going forward with themes that can last 4-6 weeks, please let us know. We are fleshing out a few ideas ourselves, but the more ideas we can pull from the better.
A note from Nurse Ricki: We received a Maine Health Alert yesterday concerning increased respiratory illness across the country. It is expected to peak in the coming weeks. Covid-19, Influenza and RSV are all circulating. We are seeing some increase in respiratory illness here at FMS.
Good time for a reminder to practice good respiratory etiquette. We share this information with students and appreciate you helping us by reinforcing these habits at home. Cover your coughs and sneezes in your elbow or tissue, wash your hands, wear a mask if you are experiencing symptoms, stay home if you are sick. Vaccination is another way to prevent the spread of illness.

Online snow sculpture contest is back!!
This will be a month long event!
Kicking off January 1st until January 31st at 5:00 pm!
Grade levels will compete to win a prize on the best snow sculpture.
Pre K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade
2nd & 3rd Grade
4th and 5th Grade
There will be a 1st and 2nd place winner for each grade level.
Island Treasure Toys is sponsoring the event and will be providing the prizes.
Prizes will be a $20.00 gift card for 1st place and a $10.00 for 2nd place.
To enter, email a picture of the snow sculpture to the PTA with the first name and grade level of the student. We will post your picture on Facebook and whoever gets the most likes will win.

Midcoast Youth Theater will present the family-friendly musical Newsies January 4-7 at Brunswick High School's Crooker Theater. This show features nearly 100 singers, dancers, and other performers in a popular show that will be a great event for the whole family to enjoy. For any families who wish to request free tickets to Newsies: MYT and its Ticket Sponsor, Bath Savings, are making free tickets available to each performance for families who otherwise might not be able to attend. To reserve your complimentary tickets, please send an email to tickets@midcoastyouththeater.org and provide your name, the size of your family who will be attending, including the number of children and adults, and the date and time of the show you would like to see. You will receive an email reply to confirm your reservation and with instructions on how to pick up your tickets at the show.
Families CAN! has several upcoming parenting enrichment programs that are all FREE, and open to any parent, caregiver or community member. Currently, all programs are being offered by Zoom.
