JEAN CHILDS YOUNG MEDIA CENTER
NOVEMBER 2018
The Race is On!
APS is creating a culture of readers. Our Superintendent, Dr. Meria Carstarphen, is challenging students to read 20 minutes a day, five days a week. The goal for the District is 2 million minutes read by the end of May 2019. Young Middle School's goal is 37,624 minutes. So far, we have read 815 minutes. Teachers, staff, parents and community partners are invited to join our race. Let's go Wolfpack!
Thanks to the Atlanta-Fulton County Library, teachers, students, and staff no longer need a library card to access resources at the library. Teachers and students can access AFPLS through MyBackPack. If you need asisstance, please see Ms. Gaither, Media Specialist.

On Course for Coding
Mr. Davidson's Engineering and Technology students had the opportunity to code Sphero robots. Mr. Brown from the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System worked with our students on coding and programming. Students coded the robots for direction, speed, and duration. The concept was to demonstrate for students how robots are used to perform human tasks, such as entering hostile or dangerous situations.
