Immunization
Hello Wolverine Family,
My name is Nichole Almaguer,RN the nurse here at Zachry. I just wanted to send a reminder about making sure we have up to date immunization records. We have been working very hard in trying to keep everyone up to date. Please be advised there is a NO shot NO school law that we do abide by within Northside. The mandatory shots for 7th grade are Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) and MCV4 (meningococcal conjugate vaccine). These are normally given at the 11 year old check up so please check your records and if they have them send me a copy via email (nichole.almaguer@nisd) or in person.

Zachry MS ELA Summer Reading 2023
Welcome to Zachry,
As a Northside student, we ask that you read at least one novel of your choice this summer. By spending time reading, you will expand your vocabulary, give yourself examples of great writing, deepen your critical thinking skills, and build your focus and imagination. There is no other assignment than to read and be ready to discuss your book when school starts.
The list below (attachment) gives you some ideas of books that you might find interesting or give you a place to start looking. Remember, you can choose whichever book you wish to read - it does not have to be on the list below. The novels marked by an asterisk (*) indicate books on Northside’s approved book list. If you are interested in other titles not on the approved book list, we encourage you to do some research and speak with your family before selecting a title.
Please email Juliana Molina (juliana.molina@nisd.net) with any questions.
You can check out digital books through your school’s library on Sora, and Libby, or the San Antonio Public Library.
Happy Reading!
*Summer reading is required for Advanced ELA in grades 6-8 but open to all students.

Meal Cost for Breakfast and Lunch
We have just received formal notice that although our campus will no longer be a Title 1 Campus for the 2023-2024 School Year, we will be under a Community Eligibility Provision.
What this means?
Children attending Zachry and Zachry Magnet will receive meals at no cost and do not need to complete a NSLP Free & Reduced-Price Meal household application. However, each household will need to complete a CEP form that will help determine additional funding for state and federal programs and services that may be provided to us.
We will need all our families to complete these forms and the first ability to do so will be at our Prep Day, Aug. 16.
"Away For The Day"
New Cellphone/Electronic Device Policy
Beginning this school year, students will be required to put away all electronic devices (including gaming devices, phones, airpods, etc.) when they are released to first period at 8:30 AM. Students will not be authorized to use these devices during the school day (8:30 AM - 3:55 PM).
- Locations include cafeteria, hallway, library, classroom and restrooms.
I know this will be a shift, but the distractions of social media, texting, and playing games need to be removed from campus.
Thank you for your partnership as we implement this new policy to create a distraction free educational environment.
