New Teaching and Learning Curriculum Page
The Department of Teaching and Learning is pleased to announce the launch of our new Teaching and Learning website now linked directly from our updated district web platform through Apptegy. On this site, families will find our NRSD Curriculum Guides which were developed last year as a component of our districtwide curriculum mapping and alignment efforts.
The NRSD Curriculum Guides offer families an overview of what students will learn in a given year. Aligned with the standards outlined by the Massachusetts Department of Education Curriculum Frameworks, the guides articulate the vision for learning, major units of study, essential questions, transfer goals, and skills and competencies that will be addressed in a particular course of study.
Curriculum is living, breathing, and consistently evolving to reflect student needs and the changing learning landscape. Our Curriculum Guides will be regularly assessed as part of the Nashoba Regional School District Curriculum Review Process and are still in development in some K-5 areas. Our Curriculum Guide development will continue alongside our curriculum work this year, and we will be certain to keep families updated as new Guides are added.
PSAT Information for Juniors
It's that time again.....time for Juniors to register for the PSATs! This year, they will be held on Friday, October 20th at noon at NRHS. Registration is online at www.TotalRegistration.net/PSAT/220162 beginning September 12th, and ending September 27th. Due to the College Board requirements for digital testing, we are not afforded the late registration opportunity, so please plan accordingly. For planning purposes, If you plan to use your College Board approved testing accommodation, you must notify Mr. Glover by the end of the registration period, otherwise, we may not be able to accomodate you.
The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) is designed to be taken early in the junior year and is not only a practice SAT, but also the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program. The PSAT is only offered once each school year in October, and the junior year is the only time students can take the PSAT and qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Please download and read the attached Student Guide, which should answer many questions you may have.
For the first time ever, the PSAT is going digital! An App called Bluebook will be pushed out to your school-issued Chromebooks soon. For students taking the PSAT, this App will be used not only on the day of the test, but you will also use it to access the practice questions for test preparation. Students are required to bring their fully charged school-issued Chromebooks on the test date. There will be a practice run during the last period on October 10th (more information will follow to students who are signed up for the test).
The PSAT will begin promptly at 12:00 and you will be given a short period of time to eat lunch prior to testing. You will NOT have enough time to go anywhere to pick up any food. Students, Please indicate here if you would like to have a bagged lunch provided by the school cafeteria or if you will bring your own lunch.
If you have any questions not answered in this email or in the attached Student Guide, please reach out.
Take care,
Mrs. Hilliger
Guidance

Health Office Update
MOSQUITOES
Following a report of a mosquito testing positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) in Ayer and ongoing reports of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE)-positive mosquitoes in the southeastern part of the State, we are reaching out with a general reminder to stay vigilant and protect yourself from mosquito bites. It may be September, but mosquito season isn’t over yet! With this summer’s wet weather, we have more mosquitoes than usual, so it’s extra important to exercise precautions.
To avoid mosquito bites, use a repellent with an EPA-registered ingredient, wear clothing to reduce exposed skin, drain standing water and repair window screens. Remember that mosquitoes are most active at dawn and dusk.
Stay informed on when and where WNV and EEE activity is occurring in Massachusetts and get more information on protecting yourself and your loved ones: https://www.mass.gov/mosquito-borne-diseases
PHYSICAL EXAMS AND VACCINES
Please remember to send in a copy of your child's physical exam after regularly scheduled appointments throughout the year, so that vaccines and any changes in health conditions or allergies can be updated. Yearly physicals are required for all student athletes as well as for all 10th grade students. Thank you in advance!
FLU VACCINE CLINIC
Please see the attached flyer for the annual flu vaccine clinic to be held at NRHS on Monday 10/16 from 3-6pm. This clinic is for all ages.
Pre-registration is required. Please visit https://www.nashoba.org/calendar for full clinic schedule, registration links, and FAQs. Please bring your insurance card if you have one.
Wishing everyone a healthy autumn season!
