Elementary Holds Ribbon Cutting
September 7, 2021 will go down in #PointerNation history! We were so excited to welcome students into our renovated elementary spaces!
The day began with a brief ribbon cutting ceremony for students and staff. School Board members since construction began were also invited to attend.
Since we were unable to have a groundbreaking ceremony due to the pandemic, students who painted shovels for that event were invited back for the ribbon cutting.
Stay tuned for information on the Community Open House this fall, once some finishing touches are complete with the project. We can't wait for you to see the improvements for yourself!
As always, thank you for your support of our district. This building will continue to be enjoyed for generations of Pointers to come.

5th Grade Outdoor Education Fundraiser
The 5th Grade Outdoor Education Program is seeking your support with future outdoor education programming! We are excited to share that we are already planning our end-of-year trip for our Outdoor Education Program. It’s a great opportunity for 5th graders to enjoy a couple days out in the woods and challenge themselves in new ways.
5th Grade Outdoor Education is using Bucky Book to support its overnight learning experience in the Dells. With a Bucky Book purchase, you can help kids make memories and redeem valuable coupons at the same time!
Our Outdoor Ed Program will receive $15 from each $35 Bucky Book sold. If you would like to order, please connect with a 5th grader you know or contact Jeff David at jeff.david@mp.k12.wi.us.
Free Meals for All Students
An important reminder that breakfast and lunch are being offered everyday at no cost for all students! (Please note ala carte items and milk break are not free).
All students within the Mineral Point Unified School District are eligible to receive breakfast and lunch for free through the 2021-22 school year. This is made possible because the USDA has extended the free meal program.
Any questions, please contact taherfoodservices@mp.k12.wi.us.
Together Again!
1829
"Proud of our past. Focused on our future."
All staff and students will receive this year's shirt design, which pays homage to our history as one of the oldest schools in the State of Wisconsin. See the excerpt from "History of Iowa County" published 1881: "The first school in the county was taught at Mineral Point in 1829 by Mrs. Harker and Beulah Lamb. The attendance numbered eight pupils, whose facilities for mastering the simple rudiments of the English language were plain beyond description. The schoolhouse was a wretched log cabin, with rough-hewn timber walls. The seats were made by inserting four wooden pegs in slabs of timber. The floor was composed of rough, puncheons, and pens and ink were novelties beyond the flightiest imagination. With the institution of a school, the highway was paved for the reception of the arts and sciences."
Everyone's new favorite space!
