Akron Chuck Annand Wrestling Invitational set for Saturday, December 2
Did you know.... Akron has been hosting a wrestling tournament the first weekend in December for many decades. The tournament, originally called the Akron Invitational, was renamed to honor long time wrestling coach Chuck Annand and his family who ran the tournament for many years. The tournament also honors long time coach Cliff Fletcher by giving an "Outstanding Wrestling" award to one wrestler each year in Cliff's name.
Please come support the Ram wrestlers on Saturday as we host 20 teams in the tournament this year. Start time is 9 am and the cost for entry is $8 for Adults and $6 for Children/Seniors.
Go Big Blue!!
Building Trades Students Getting School Organized
The Building Trades students have helped the office staff get a little more organized by building us two drawers for our lost and found items. This will help to keep our entryway a little cleaner and lost and found items easier to locate.
Elementary Science Fair
Monday night we hosted the 3rd - 5th grade Science Fair. Students were prepared with awesome display boards and polished speeches about their hypotheses, processes, and data. Way to go Akron students and teachers.

Mrs. Dreitz's Classes Working on CDE Contests
Students in agricultural education classes began working through the various CDE contests. A mini contest is organized and all students gain an idea of what the contest entails. This week’s contest was Food Science and Technology.
Building Trades
Two of the Building Trades students recently completed an American flag made from wood. The flag was appropriately hung in the shop.
Great work!
MS Boys Basketball Defeat Merino Rams
The Akron Rams MS basketball teams played well at Merino last Tuesday. The A squad won 53-28 and the B squad won 36-25. Great job players and coaches!

ESports
This fall, Akron participated in its inaugural season of Esports. The company PlayVS is the platform that orchestrated this season. They and CHSAA sanction 4 game titles each year. Rocket League, League of Legends, Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. Each season there are playoffs at the end of season, however due to fairness for other sports only having one title per year, CHSAA only offers one title per year. This semester/season CHSAA titles were for the game titles League of Legends and Rocket League. The other two titles, Super Smash and Mario Kart, had a postseason tournament, but were for a PlayVS trophy. Akron had teams for the titles Mario Kart, League of Legends, and Super Smash Bros. All teams showed much improvement this season and appeared to enjoy their time. Fortunately we had one team qualify for playoffs. Akron's Mario Kart finished ranked 22nd and competed in the PlayVS Cup. They met with No. 11 Power-Technical of Colorado Springs on Tuesday 11-28. The team did well and came out on top during a few different races, but ultimately fell 0-2 in sets, bringing their season to an end. During the spring season the Championships will be flipped and the CHSAA sanctioned titles will be in Mario Kart and Super Smash, whereas the PlayVS Cup will be Rocket League and League of Legends. It was a fun season and we look forward to what the Spring season has in store for us!
Go Rams!
Adventure Vision
On January 23rd and 24th our school has the opportunity to receive vision screenings from Adventure Vision. This clinic covers a full eye exam with a doctor and two pairs of glasses if needed. They will measure glasses the day of the screening event and then come and fit them to the child in about 2 weeks. The glasses come with a full year warranty - if something breaks, they will replace them or repair them for free.
This program is available for all students PS-12 to take advantage of. For a student to be seen, families will need to complete an information and parent consent form that can be found at the office. Students who have not passed our BOCES screenings will be receiving a packet to take home.
If you are interested, have your student stop by the office for a form or contact the office to have one sent home.
A big thanks to BOCES and our school nurse for organizing this event.
