A Message from Dr. Hicks
Hello Cougars,
Happy President's Day. The federal holiday celebrates George Washington and Abraham Lincoln's birthdays and serves as an excellent reminder to honor those who have led our country. It takes passion and dedication to be a leader and we're fortunate to have a team of educators in our school district who possess these qualities.
If you look at the past week, cougar nation has a lot of reasons to smile. Two of our basketball teams made it to the playoffs. The Lady Cougars played Friday night and though the game didn't end as we wanted, we are proud to call them Cougars and Bi-District Champions. This Tuesday, the boys' basketball team has its playoff game at Eastview High School in Georgetown against Manor New Tech. Please join us in cheering them on to victory. Be there, wear blue, and get loud!
Classroom highlights include: Jarrell High School students launched their daily video announcements. These videos will be published on the JHS website for parents and students to view. Soon each school will have published video announcements led by our students. Another way to share the great things happening daily at our campuses. Elementary school highlights our students who were recognized for their confidence and perseverance during the Early Act First Knight Ceremony. Way to go, students. We are proud of you. And lastly, a big Cougar shout out to Jarrell Middle School for implementing teaching techniques to close the learning gap due to the covid slide. Here's the link to the story that was on CBS news
For some housekeeping items, the board approved the 22-23 Academic Calendar at Wednesday's school board meeting. The calendar is posted above. Your proud superintendent,
Dr. Toni Hicks
