CELEBRATIONS!
Great things are happening at WCS!
We dedicate each week to one of the Woolwich Way character traits: Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Compassion, Courtesy and Quality. On Mondays, we have a member of our Middle School student leadership team speak about the word of the week on the announcements. It has been lovely hearing these young people share their voices with the school, and learning how these words fit into our life!
BRIGHT NIGHT BATH 12/9
Community will be gathering on Front Street in Bath Friday night from 5-8pm to experience "Bright Night Bath." This will be a night of shopping and vibrant entertainment- including our own WCS band and chorus performing with BMS and MHS on the steps of Bath City Hall. Their performance happens from 6-6:30pm! CLICK HERE for more information about the evening.
LOCK DOWN DRILL 12/12
PURPLE PENNY
The Pocket Change for Charity event continues on as students and staff bring in their change and it is collected in classrooms. The classroom with the largest donation at the end wins the opportunity to display the giant, "Purple Penny" in their room! Currently, the standings are:
3rd Place: Ms. Sinclair's 8th grade class with $10.38
2nd Place: Mr. Huston's 7th grade class with $27.48
1st Place: Mr. Harrington's 6th grade class with $27.65
PTA NEWS
We will be holding our 2nd annual Woolwich Winter Tree Lighting on Tuesday, December 13th at 6 PM! Join us for hot cocoa and cookies, photo ops, music from our band and chorus students, and of course, the lighting of the tree!
Our monthly PTA meeting will be held on December 14th at 6 PM in the library- and it's sweater time! We will be wearing our ugliest (or most festive) sweaters or outfits and discussing upcoming events- we'd love to see you there!
STUDENT ARTISTS
Four WCS students will have their artwork displayed at the Superintendent's office for a while! Congratulations to Isla Polizotto, Jamayka Orff, Sully Moore and Jocelyn Johnston!
GATE DAY
After a review of our learning at November's Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum visit, this month’s GATE session continued the exploration of Inuit culture. Students assembled snow goggles in the morning and spent time in the afternoon learning about what Inuit people eat, how they stay warm, traditional Inuit homes and way of life, as well as the relationship between Inuit people and animals. We began a knot tying activity that we will continue next time we meet in January when we plan to further explore Inuit culture and traditions.
SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT
Our Basketball teams celebrated victories on Wednesday in an away game against South Bristol! The next home game happens on Monday and sees our teams facing off against Boothbay (Girls play at 3:45pm and Boys play at 5pm) LET'S GO WILDCATS!
This week as part of a Middle School WOW Ticket reward, 2 students became "Principal for a Day." Syerra Kwasniak and Khloe Murray each conducted business, made classroom rounds, and did the announcements for a day!
Speaking of WOW Tickets, we've reached our first milestone of 150 tickets as a school. On Friday the whole school was treated to hot cocoa and a cookie at lunch, served by Mr. Libby! The next goal is to earn 350 tickets. At that point we will celebrate with a "Decades Day" at school, complete with lunchtime music courtesy of DJ Dimbleby!
This is the place to get all your WCS-branded clothing and accessories.
