I hope everyone is excited for their long weekend! As we return to school on Tuesday, I am hoping you can support us in reminding your students about appropriate bus behavior. This year, more than ever, we have students who are not being safe on the bus. Students are getting up and moving while the bus is moving. There have also been many instances of students hitting and kicking each other on the bus. I realize the bus can be exciting, but we really need your help in communicating the importance of bus safety. We are reviewing expectations here at school and would appreciate your support in reviewing them at home as well:

• Do not approach the bus until it has stopped moving and the stop arm is out
• Stay seated while the bus is moving
• No eating or drinking on the bus
• Keep your hands to yourself
• Use an inside voice

OPEN HOUSE will be held on Thursday, September 7th. In order to assist us with crowd control and parking, we will have families with last names beginning with A-L join us from 5:30- 6:05 and families with last names beginning with M-Z join us from 6:25-7:00.

Picture Day is Friday, September 8th.

In D303, we value the opportunity to provide a community of care and support to our families, especially those faced with financial hardship.

If your family is currently experiencing a significant financial need, our community partnerships have several supports available for families including: school clothes/shoes, winter coats/accessories, school supplies, toiletries, holiday meals, and/or holiday gifts. If you would like to be considered for any of these supports, please complete the Family Resource Form by September 1, 2023.

I appreciate your patience as we have been working through dismissal the last two weeks. In order to create a more effective plan, I need to shift our routine:

• K-5 car riders will now all be picked up using the front sidewalk by the main entrance. We will not have 3rd - 5th grade car riders using the east loop any longer.
• On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, cars will be able to pull all the way up next to the sidewalk instead of having to wait in the parking lot area. Car riders will exit the building in the first wave of dismissal on these four days.
• On Wednesdays the high school has early release, so all of our buses are here on time. On Wednesdays only, cars will need to stage in the parking lot. Buses will be filled first, then car riders. Once our buses have been loaded, we will signal for cars to pull forward to pick up students.

In order for teachers to support dismissal effectively, please take a minute to fill out this dismissal routine survey. If you ever need to change your routine, for a special instance or permanently, please be sure to reach out to the front office and your child's teacher.

Our Lost & Found already has unclaimed items! So many wonderful Ferson items end up at Goodwill for donation because they go unclaimed for weeks. Please be sure to label your student's belongings. Some items to label:

• lunch boxes
• water bottles
• coats
• sweatshirts
• hoodies
• shoes
• hats
• gloves
• backpacks

When things are labeled, the can quickly find their way back to their owner!

We'd love to have parents spend time with Ferson Creek students during lunch and lunch recess! While it would be great to have you for all lunches (the full time is 10:55-12:55), we'd still like you to volunteer, even if you can only come for part of the time. Please refer to our lunch schedule (below) and let us know the time(s) you are available in the comment line of the SignUp Genius.

That being said, it is important to keep our students, staff members, and volunteers safe while they are in our schools. Given that, all volunteers must:

• Have your ID ready and sign in at the office to receive your visitor badge.
• Complete a Volunteer Liability Form EACH YEAR. If the school does not have one on file for you and you do not provide one, the office will provide one for you when you come for your first day as a volunteer.

For this volunteer opportunity, fingerprinting is not mandatory; HOWEVER, if you have completed the fingerprinting process, it allows us more flexibility in how we use you during lunch and recess. Please contact the PTO or Dr. DuCharm for more information about the fingerprinting process. WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE ALL OF OUR LUNCH VOLUNTEERS TO DO THIS.

D303 Community,

St. Charles North is looking forward to our first home football game of the season this Friday vs. Palatine! The sophomore game starts at 4:45pm followed by the varsity at 7:00pm. This Friday is Youth Football Night! All youth football players in uniform will have free admission.

In order to maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all of our spectators in attendance please take a moment to review some important reminders regarding the game:

-Gates will open at 4:00 pm.

-Tailgating is not permitted.

-No backpacks, bags or outside food or beverages are allowed. Bags no larger than 8x6 are acceptable. All bags are subject to search.

-All students under high school age must be supervised by a parent or guardian inside the stadium.

-No re-entry into the stadium is allowed.

-Use of profanity, taunting, including racial remarks of any kind, throwing objects, and possessing objects that block the view of other spectators are PROHIBITED.

-The Blue Fan Group student section is located in the bleachers on the south end. Parents and other spectators should plan to sit in the middle of the stadium. Our SCN Pep Band will play on the north end of the home bleachers.

Tickets will be sold at the gate. Prices are as follows:

-General Admission-$5.00

-Students & Seniors 65+-$2.00

-Visitors w/Student ID-$2.00
-D303 MS/HS Students and Staff w/ID-FREE
