Weekly Bulletin

We are so excited to fill these halls up with students and staff! We have an exciting year planned that will hopefully be more "normal" than last year. We're able to make some adjustments to our school day that meet the current mandated guidelines:

• All students can now travel to their classes instead of staying in the same classroom all day, as our junior high students had to do all last school year.

• All students will be assigned a locker and will be permitted to use it throughout the day.

• We can now safely seat all students in the cafeteria for lunch, as opposed to having half of the students seated in the gym bleachers.

• Although all students and staff must be masked while in the building, when outdoors masks are not required.

• Students will be changing into PE uniforms this year.

• The guideline from the health department is that we keep all students seated at least 3 feet from one another. We're able to safely fit all students in classrooms and will not have the need to have students "zoom" in for classroom instruction, as we did last year.

• Water fountains and vending machines will be available for staff and student use throughout the day.

• As an extension of last year's FDA's program, all student school lunches are still free.

Please join us for our open house! Students will be able to walk their schedule, set up their lockers, and meet their teachers. We hope to see you all there!

We unfortunately have not yet been able to fill the music position this school year. This means that the 7-12 music program will be put on hold for the time being. We will continue to search for a qualified candidate and hope one is available for 2nd semester.

Students who were enrolled in band and/or choir have been placed into other classes that were available. Please check Skyward for your students updated schedule.

Please welcome Mrs. Ballard as she transitions from the classroom into the counseling office! Mrs. Ballard has a passion for working with students and this will be a new way for her to connect with our students. If you and/or your student has any questions regarding scheduling, career/college opportunities, transcript needs, etc, please reach out to her at kballard@afcschools.net.

District administrators have been trained and are able to administer rapid COVID tests to students and staff. A signed waiver is needed in order to use this option. Please consider completing one and sending it to school with your student so we will have it on file in the event your student is symptomatic and you would like them tested. This is convenient because if your student is symptomatic and tests negative, they can return to class immediately.

Students will NOT be tested unless we have permission from a parent/guardian. If we have a waiver on file, the parent/guardian will still be notified if a test is administered to your student.

Hard copies of this consent form will be available during our open house on August 17 from 6-7 pm and will be made available for students to take home on their first day, August 18.
