LEGACY JR. HIGH IN THE KNOW!
What's Going On In The Silver Wolf World
December 5 - December 9, 2022
MIDTERMS, PENNIES, and GALAS....OH MY!!
- Midterm grades will be posted today, December 2, 2022 at 5:00 PM. Remember, if your student has an OT, this means they are Off Track. There is more information below regarding what you can do to support your student in this process.
- Penny Wars will begin on Monday, December 5, 2022 - We will announce the organization that we will be donating to on Monday. We want to raise as many funds as possible! There will be options of donating digitally as well as bringing in a ton of pennies. Last year we raised nearly $4,800.00, let's see if we can beat it this year. If there is a small business that is interested in donating prizes for classrooms, or matching donations, please contact Mr. Strain.
- Our Holiday Gala will be on Thursday, December 15, 2022. Last year we had a TON of fun and saw great performances by so many different groups. Come and support us again this year!!
JOB WELL DONE!
Great job to our Boys' Basketball Team. They lost this last Tuesday, but they had an excellent season. They showed hard work, determination, and growth throughout the season. We are proud of their hard work!
ONE KIND ACT A DAY!
We continue to see great things from our One Kind Act a Day Campaign! We are challenging students to do one kind act every day with a simple challenge during morning announcements. Additionally, students can earn the LJH One Kind Act Heart to fill up their mentor class "Jar of Hearts." We will have different prizes and competitions throughout this term to help make Legacy and even better place. Administration passed out Sour Patch Kids to students this week to show our appreciation for our students. We wanted them to know Jr High can be SOUR at times, but they make Legacy a SWEET place to be!! Pass the kinds acts along.
Students have each chosen a small service project as a Mentor Class that they will be completing in the upcoming weeks. It is always great seeing the student participate in great things! Keep it up!

PENNY WARS-
We will begin our Penny Wars on Monday. Last year we raised nearly $5000.00! We will have a different organization we will be supporting this year! Stay tuned to find out who it will be. Additionally, if there are local businesses that are interested in matching a certain amount, or making a donation please let Mr. Strain know. Beginning Monday, December 5, 2022, students, parents, relatives, and community members can donate digitally to the desired grade level here. Let the PENNY WARS begin!
SECOND TERM TIPS
Remember.....
- Students will be reassessed on cognitive skills throughout the upcoming terms. If your student didn't perform well during first term, that sometimes is a difficult adjustment. We don't simply give out a C grade or an OT so that we can show improvement later on. The grade is a reflection of the evidence we have. Some students will need more time to continue to show progress. We want to encourage that progress!
- If your student performed below grade band on cognitive skills, they may be able to reassess in those cognitive skills by having the final product returned. Please realize this is done through a process with the content teacher and teachers may only reassess the skills that were below grade band.
- Grade band scores are what we expect students to be scoring within their grade. If they are toward the lower end of the grade band, their percentage is lower. If a student is below the expected grade band, they will be Off Track due to lower cognitive skills scores. The grade bands are as follows:
- 7th Grade, Grade Band 2.5 - 4.5 (70% - 100%)
- 8th Grade, Grade Band 3.0 - 5.0 (70% - 100%)
- 9th Grade, Grade Band 3.5 - 5.5 (70% - 100%)
HONOR'S DESIGNATION AT LEGACY
We had nearly 200 students complete an Honor's Designation this last term. Great job!! Keep up the great work. Those who haven't done an Honor's Designation can still do it term by term. We will celebrate their accomplishments next week during mentoring. Students are encouraged to participate in the Core Honor's Designation Programs at Legacy. These are embedded into their regular curriculum. If they are interested, please have them talk with their core content teachers.
You can find more information about our Honor's Designation options on our webpage, under Parents and Students.
BOUNDARY PERMITS
The Boundary Permit window is now open. You can find more information regarding Boundary Permits and how to apply by following this link.

Our next in person session will be.

WHAT'S UP IN SUMMIT?
We want to make things as easy as possible for parents to see what is going to be coming due for their students; therefore, we have created our What's Up Documents for each grade level.
This document will give you a main idea of when each Checkpoint, Project, and PFA. Remember, if it says the blue line passes on..... that means it is due that day.
Parents are always encouraged to log into Summitlearning.org to identify the specifics of their student's grades.
Below there are links to the "What's Up in Summit" documents for each grade. This will allow you a quick view of what checkpoints, products, PFAs, and AFAs are coming due. These will also be found on our webpage under Parent Resources.
