FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
Nationwide Bomb Threat Campaign Targeting Schools
Dear CSD Families,
Yesterday we shared the following message. Over the past week, CSD has been monitoring some unfortunate incidents occurring in other states and the western part of Pennsylvania. Yesterday, our IT department and other administrators in CSD received notification that several surrounding school districts in Bucks and Montgomery County received an email claiming there are bombs in their buildings. The same email has been sent to other schools throughout the state and country and has been determined to be a non-credible threat by the Pennsylvania Criminal Intelligence Center (PaCIC).
To date, CSD has not received any communication of a threat, please know the safety of our students is of utmost importance. Should such communication be received, we will follow our safety and security procedures and immediately report the situation to the police who will investigate the matter even though the email is thought to be a swatting tactic. Swatting is the false reporting of an emergency to public safety by a person with the intent of getting a (“SWAT team”) response to a location where no emergency exists.
Your children are in a safe environment and school will not be dismissed unless deemed necessary for the safety and security of our students and staff. I want you to feel confident that we will do everything possible to maintain a safe and secure environment. Keeping the lines of communication open allows us to work together to make our schools as safe as possible and to keep our families informed.
I ask that all families talk to their children about the seriousness of false reports, swatting, and threats, whether intentional or not.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
Sincerely,
Dana T. Bedden, Ed.D., CAA
Superintendent of Schools

On Monday, September 25th, William Tennent senior Sami Auspitz will be competing in the World Tap Championship (the Olympics of Dance) in Germany, representing the United States. Sami dances for the American Tap Company. She is the only representative from Pennsylvania competing for the USA Tap Dance Team next week. Not only will the team meet competitors from all over Europe, but they will also meet dancers from Canada, Mexico, Australia, South Africa, Japan, China, and South Korea. They will also have the opportunity to travel to Dresden, Berlin, Meissen, and Prague, where they will visit churches, museums, and World War II sites. Good luck, Sami! Bring home the gold!
William Tennent Knows How to Celebrate Spanish Heritage Month
On Friday, September 15th, the students in William Tennent High School’s Spanish and ELL classes celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with an interactive performance by Los Bomberos de la Calle under the direction of Mr. Anthony Mendez. They learned about the traditional and contemporary styles of Afro Puerto Rican Bomba and Plena music and dance. The event was sponsored by the Centennial Education Foundation.
The Halloween Spirit
The students in the Spirit Program helped out at the Administration building by organizing donated Halloween decorations. While enjoying their lunch, they took turns telling jokes to Superintendent, Dr. Dana T. Bedden. Laughter really is the best medicine! Thank you to the Spirit Program for all their hard work!
Log College Students Earn Prizes!
Log College’s 200 Club and PBIS Program promote a message of Living Safely, Owning Responsibility, and Giving Respect (LOG). Students earn tickets and place them on the 200 Club Board for demonstrating the above values with their actions at school. Once a row of tickets “hits,” the students earn prizes. Congratulations to the first winners this school year!
Might as Well Jump
On Tuesday, September 19th, Klinger students, families, and friends came out to Altitude Trampoline Park to support the schoolwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Support Program. There was a terrific turnout, and the kids had a great time jumping, playing, and having fun together. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Davis Students Possess Wit and Wisdom
Davis Elementary School teachers and students have been digging into the new Wit & Wisdom curriculum! Teachers are bringing engaging texts to life and the students are working hard while enjoying reading, writing, and collaborating with their classmates!
McDonald Bulldogs Smile for Picture Day
On Friday, McDonald Elementary School students lined up in the gymnasium to have their pictures taken for Picture Day. Students, many sporting fresh haircuts and their fancy clothes, posed for pictures that will be in the yearbook at the end of the school year. Students were then gathered and posed for class pictures. We are thankful for the parents, dubbed the "Glam Squad," who assisted in having students look their best!
THE OFFICE OF SCHOOLS & STUDENT SERVICES
Coming Soon
Next month, the Office of School & Student Services will be asking you, and students in grades 3-12, to take a brief survey to tell us about your experience with Centennial School District. We need your feedback (and our students voice) to ensure we continue to provide high-quality, rigorous learning experiences that meet the needs of all learners and prepare them for college, career, and life readiness. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks! Please remember, families do have the option to opt their student(s) out of the survey.

2023-26 Comprehensive Planning Feedback
The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires school districts to complete a Comprehensive Plan. Elements of the Comprehensive Plan include but are not limited to District Profile, Planning Process/Committee, Mission, Vision and Values, Instructional Strategies, Safe and Supportive Schools, Special Education Assurances, Induction Plans, Needs Assessments, Action Plan and Goals, and Professional Development. There are also a series of other State Required Reports that are included: Academic Standards and Assessment Requirements (Chapter 4), Gifted Education Plan Assurances (Chapter 16), Induction Plan (Chapter 49), Professional Development Plan (Act 48), and Student Services Assurances (Chapter 12).
The Comprehensive Plan runs on a three-year cycle, and Centennial's 2020-23 Comprehensive Plan is due for renewal this Fall, 2023. In June of 2022, Centennial put together a Comprehensive Planning Steering Committee comprised of faculty, staff, administration, students, parents, community members, and community partners and began working on the plan. The main Steering Committee and several subcommittees worked throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall of 2022 to complete the Comprehensive Plan and the Pennsylvania Department of Education State Required Reports due this Fall.
As part of the 28-day review requirement, embedded in this Thoughtexchange for feedback is a 1-page overview highlighting the key aspects of our Comprehensive Plan, a draft of our full Comprehensive Plan, a draft of our Induction Plan (Chapter 49), a draft of our Professional Development Plan (Act 48), and a draft of our Gifted Education Plan Assurances (Chapter 16).
To be transparent, inclusive, and informed, please take a few minutes and visit the following Thoughtexchange to provide your feedback on these documents.

Two Volleyball Milestones Hit on the Same Night
Congratulations to Junior, Isabelle Goebel (Assists) and Senior, Addyson Criss (Digs) for eclipsing the 1,000th mark on the same night! During the second set, Izzy's 9th assist of the match pushed her career assists to 1,000. In the 3rd and final set of the 3-0 win against Neshaminy, Addie got her 1,000th dig right before the conclusion of the match. Both will be added to our milestone banners in the William Tennent Gymnasium at the conclusion of the volleyball season.
