State Testing and Senior Updates
LFHS Spring State Testing
Hello Lake Fenton Families,
This newsletter references important details about our upcoming state testing schedule in April. We want to make sure Juniors (and any Seniors that missed it in the Fall) have time to prepare for the important SAT test.
- If you have a Junior, please complete the Spring State Testing Form (also available at the link below) to sign up for a practice test session available on Friday, March 5, 2021. They also have an opportunity to attend SAT practice tutorial sessions after school leading up to the SAT. Read on for dates and details.
- If you have an interested Senior that did not particpate in the SAT last Fall, please have them complete the Spring State Testing Form (also available at the link below) to sign up for the SAT on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. This is NOT required for Seniors.
The deadline to apply for BOTH of these is Monday, March 1st.
Finally, I have included a Senior Section with important details and deadlines for Seniors as we round out the second half of this school year. Please read on to stay in the know!

SENIORS - FAFSA SUPPORT
According to the U.S. Department of Education, Michigan is experiencing a 14% decrease in Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) forms filed by high school seniors when compared to last year at the same time, which mirrors a national trend.
Please attend the virtual college financial aid night detailed below by completing this registration form: County Wide FAFSA Night
You can also check out our Genesee County FAFSA Support site here: Genesee ISD Support Services
This is an important step for all Seniors considering college and trade schools in their future!
SENIORS - VIRTUAL FINANCIAL AID SESSIONS
Students and families looking for help paying for college are encouraged to register for an upcoming Virtual College Financial Aid Night hosted by Michigan Department of Treasury’s MI Student Aid team. Sessions will be available from 6:30-8PM every Tuesday and Thursday in February. All sessions are free and open to the public. Participants will be able to gather information on the following financial aid topics:
- FAFSA application information
- Federal financial aid programs
- State financial aid programs
- Scholarship searching
- MiSSG Student Portal Accounts
Due to limited space, participants are encouraged to sign up for one session only. Registration can be completed by visiting the MI Student Aid website at www.michigan.gov/mistudentaid.
