Dear Ram Fam,

I hope you are as excited as I am about the upcoming school year! You will receive a weekly newsletter entitled "Inside Riverside" to keep you updated on events and happenings around the school. Additionally, please check our Riverside website for announcements and information including our RES Parent Handbook. I look forward to seeing our returning Rams and meeting all our new Rams this week.

I would like to share some exciting news! Riverside has been selected to become a We Care School through Community Renewal. At Riverside, we will begin building a "culture of caring" on our campus (classroom, cafeteria, playground). We are also excited to introduce you to our new ram, Sam the Ram.

Riverside will use Class Dojo school-wide this year. This will allow you to communicate with your child's teacher and receive school-wide messages. Your teacher will give you a code to join at the beginning of the year.

Carpool procedures will be similar to last year. Please see carpool reminders below. We ask that you are patient the first couple of weeks as we establish our routines. Remember school starts for all 1st-5th grade students on Wednesday, August 9th. The school day begins each day at 7:25 and ends at 2:50. Our Pre-K and Kindergarten students have a staggered entrance and begin their first full day on Monday, August 14th.

Finally, school fees are $25 this year and can be paid on www.payschoolscentral.com beginning now.

*Students may begin exiting their vehicle at 7:05 when Riverside staff is on duty and the bell rings. Please do not let your child out of your vehicle before 7:05. Walkers should also not be on campus before 7:05. This is for your child's safety.

*The carline will run down the entire length of the driveway. Please pull all the way forward so we can get as many cars off the street as possible and expedite the drop-off process. School staff will be on duty and in position to direct students as they exit their vehicles.

*Breakfast will be served from 7:05-7:20. Students must be in their classroom by 7:25 or they are tardy.

*Students arriving at 7:25 or later will need to be signed in by a parent/guardian in the office. Please park and walk your child to the office if you arrive late.

*You MUST have a carpool tag to pick up a child from Riverside Elementary. Please hang it from your rearview mirror so it is visible for the RES staff.

*Dismissal for ECSE classes will take place at 2:15 in the front carline.

*Dismissal for all PreK-5th students will begin at 2:50.

*All PreK-3rd grade car riders will be picked up at the front carpool line and all 4th and 5th car riders will be picked up at the back car line. Siblings will remain with their grade level.

*Walkers will meet in the cafeteria. Once all walkers have arrived, the duty personnel will walk all walkers to the crosswalk. The duty personnel will stop the carpool line and monitor these students as they walk across the crosswalk to meet a parent/guardian or move to the sidewalk to walk home.

*All parents of students who do not ride a bus and are not approved walkers (students that walk to and from their home to school) must use the carpool line.

Riverside spirit shirts can be worn every Friday with your uniforms bottoms and when you go on field trips. They are available in short and long sleeve as well as a sweatshirt. Two designs are available and there are 3 colors to choose from. Go to Local Level Events through the end of August to order.
