Principal's Message
Dear Parent(s),
As the year progresses it is vitally important that we keep our lines of communication open between school and home. It has come to my attention that a large number of our parents are not using or aware of the Parent Portal feature within PowerSchool. This application is used to monitor your child's academic progress and their daily attendance. Below are the instructions in order to begin using PowerSchool. If you have questions please give us a call.
Below is the information required for parents of grade 7 students regarding the Alberta Education Assurance Survey. Please take the time to complete the survey and if you need clarification of any questions please don't hesitate to call and speak to one of our Administrative team.
We have received additional supplies of Covid19 Rapid tests and masks for our students. If you would like your son/daughter to pick up an additional set please ask them to come by the office.
Wednesday February 23rd is Pink Shirt Day. Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 when a student in Nova Scotia was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school. It has since been recognized annually worldwide as a day to stand against bullying. This year’s theme, #BeKindAB, encourages Albertans to be inclusive, welcoming and supportive with colleagues, clients, friends and family. Building healthy relationships is one of the best ways to prevent bullying and create safe environments.
Best Regards,
Darran Lorne

Assurance Survey - Grade 7 Parents
Parent Information
Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) Survey Information
Please read the following information. It would be wonderful to have a higher completion rate than last year.
Grade 7 Parents will be receiving packages from Alberta Education in the near future with information regarding the annual Alberta Education Assurance Survey (Previously called the Satisfaction Survey).
The information gathered from this survey is reported to the Government of Alberta, Grande Yellowhead Public School Division, and the staff of Pine Grove Middle School.
Please Note: Pine Grove Middle School Staff analyze and use the information to plan for the upcoming school year. Our results have been very positive over the past few years and we hope you will assist us in maintaining or improving our level of excellence by completing the survey.
- - If you have not received the package in the mail you will not have a Random Access Code and will have to wait for the package from Alberta Education to arrive before completing the survey.
Survey responses will not be saved unless the respondent clicks on the Submit button.
- Please complete it in one sitting.Parents will receive one survey for each child they have in grade 7.
Parents can choose to complete the survey online or complete the paper copy.
Paper Copy - Can be requested through Alberta Education or through the school. Please contact the school if you require assistance with obtaining a paper copy of the survey. You can request a digital copy to print at home or a printed copy to be mailed to you or delivered from the school.
Online Survey - Parents will require a Random Access Code (RAC). The RAC will be sent in the mail from Alberta Education. Parents will receive a RAC for each child in grade 7.
If a question is not applicable or you don’t wish to answer please choose N/A or leave it blank and it will not count towards the total number of responses.
If you answer Don’t Know it does count towards the total number of responses. Rather than choosing Don’t Know please call the school and speak with Mr. Lorne, Mrs. Benson or Mrs. Clarke.
Please make sure you choose Pine Grove Middle School and the grade of your child after you type in the RAC.
Students and Teachers will complete the survey during the school day.
Deadline to complete the survey is March 25, 2022.
All surveys are mobile compatible
Canadian Tobacco Survey
Parent(s) of Grade 7 & 8 Students,
PGMS has been asked to participate in a Canada-wide survey from Health Canada for The Canadian Student Tobacco, Alcohol and Drugs Survey. Your child received their permission form a few weeks ago with an attached information sheet on the survey. Please note this permission form is a passive consent, so if you DO NOT want your child to participate, you must complete the form on paper or online. If no form is returned to the school (on paper or online), your child will complete the survey. The survey will be completed on February 24 or 25 this week.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the office.
