Braemar Mission Statement
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have many busy weeks ahead before the winter break!
On Thursday, November 10, students participated in the Remembrance Day assembly after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic. Many thanks to Ms. Ham who organized the event. Additionally, a special thank you goes out to: Mrs, Bishop, Mrs. McFarlane, Mrs. Morrow, Monsieur Rival, Mme Thue, Mme Hebert-Wong, and Mr. Wyatt for their contributions and assistance. Lastly, the student presenters are congratulated for leading the assembly. A student-centred approach reflects our school action plan of empowering students to take ownership of their learning. We would also like to thank Braemar families for sending donations to the Poppy Fund and supporting local veterans.
Students are excited about this week's Talent Show. Students in grades kindergarten to grade 7 will have an opportunity to watch the show on Thursday at 1:30 pm in the gym. The evening show is open to families of the Talent Show participants, and any other Braemar families who wish to join. Doors will open at 6:30 pm.
Lastly thank you for your time and participation during student teacher family conferences. Monday and Tuesday dismissal time is 2 pm for the conferences. The remainder of the week, is 3 pm dismissal. Continue the conversations regarding your child's goals at home. On December 9th, you can access your child's progress report for the fall term. The report will include a summary of each student's goal(s) and a performance indicator for subject areas taught. Band and Strings students as well as ELL students will receive their progress reports on the same report card.
Reports will be sent home electronically and will be available through MyEdBC Parent Portal. Parents and guardians will receive an email to indicate that report cards have been posted. Please click here for information on how to access your child's report card and set up your password. If you require further assistance with this, please contact the school office.
Until the next bulletin!

Winter Weather Ahead!
It's always a good idea to think and prepare ahead for Winter. Please refer to to the NVSD Severe Weather Information webpage as we continue to head into a change of seasons!
Shovelling and Salting Volunteers Needed
As Braemar is a big school with five entry points into the school property, Mrs. Singh, Ms. Ham, and Mr. Timbol, school custodian, will do their best to ensure staff, students, and parents have clear and safe pathways to access the school during the winter.
The two main entry points that come from Mahon Avenue (in the cul-de-sac in front of our school), including the two sets of stairways, will be shovelled and salted when required. The remaining stairways will be salted whenever possible; therefore, parents and students are urged to use caution when using pathways other than the two main ones off Mahon Avenue.
If you would like to volunteer with shovelling and/or salting, please contact Mrs. Singh. Your assistance is appreciated.
Please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather. As the temperatures continue to decrease and the rains continue, it is important that your child is warm and comfortable outdoors during Physical Education classes, recess and lunch playtimes.
Feel free to send an extra pair of clothing, should your child need it.
