Happy Friday!
One of the goals for Clio Area Schools is to increase daily attendance. We know that daily attendance is necessary for students to be academically successful. Students who miss 10% of school days are considered chronically absent. Chronically absent students show a decrease in learning which puts them behind when compared to their peers who have fewer absences.
Tuesday morning we will have coffee with the principal at 9:00 in room 225. At this meeting, we will also have our counselors join the meeting. Our counselors will be available to answer questions and offer support for how we can work together for students.
This week we finished our STAR testing for all students in reading and math. It is great to see the growth of students in both of these academic areas.
As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. We want you to know that we find it imperative that we work together in a partnership for student success.
Sincerely,
Michelle Pyrett
Counselors Corner
Last week, high school counselors helped 8th graders chose their elective classes. If your student was absent, they can still make their requests! Please encourage your student to see Ms. Bedell or Ms. Lutey for help requesting 9th grade classes.
Scheduling information for current 6th and 7th graders will be coming out before Spring Break.
Spring is around the corner! Here are some helpful tips for getting through the winter blues.

Sports Schedule
I wanted to touch base with you in regards to sporting event attendance. Students in the middle school must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to all games and have their ID or can show their information in StudentVue to get into the games for free. Students can not be dropped off and left without parent/guardian supervision. This is for all Clio sporting events. Also, when students attend the games they will need to be seated on the bleachers. This is for safety reasons and we are also at the game to cheer on our Mustangs.
