Spectator Guidelines for Winter Sports
Attendance
At this time, there are restrictions on the number of spectators who may attend events in the Blair Oaks R-II School District gymnasiums. Blair Oaks student activities are an important part of our school community. We need our community stakeholders to be all in on making it to the next event. Our students are all in for all of us! We need to be all in for all of them. None of us want to be the reason we have to cancel the season. These restrictions may change on an event by event basis. Indoor events create less opportunities to physically distance. These restrictions will be communicated about one week prior to the event via standard methods of communication. Elementary school and middle school students need to be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or adult chaperone at all school events.
Fifty percent (50%) seating occupancy is the attendance goal for each gymnasium for all events. A specific number of tickets/passes will be distributed to Blair Oaks players, cheerleaders, dancers and band members based on our rosters and to our opponent’s so we may maintain 50% occupancy. At this time, Blair Oaks Middle School will use a pass list and each athlete will be allowed 4 spectators. Coaches will work with families to ensure those lists are updated for each game. Please note guidelines may vary from district to district and the number of spectators may also change depending on seating capacity.
**Please note if you are NOT on the pass list you will not be allowed to stay to watch the game.
Middle School Procedures for Players
Players who play in the second game can arrive 30-45 minutes after the first game’s start time where they will report to the locker room until their warmup time. Players from the first game will be allowed (expected) to leave at the conclusion of their game. Due to limited seating players will not be able to stay in the bleachers when they are not playing.
Middle School Procedures for Spectators
Spectators watching the first game of the evening may arrive at normal time. Once the first game is over they will be expected to exit the facility to make room for spectators watching the second game unless they have a child playing in both games. When fans arrive for the second game they will be expected to wait in the cafeteria until the first game has concluded.
Middle school boys will play some “B” quarters that will extend the conclusion of the first game. Coaches will share these extra quarter nights with players and parents.
Stay Home If You Are Sick
No spectators should attend a Blair Oaks event if they are sick.
Physical Distancing
Blair Oaks recommends that you sit with your immediate family members and maintain a distance of six feet from other spectators whenever possible. Families, students, and fans should avoid crowding outside of the locker rooms or on the gym floor at the conclusion of the game.
Masks Encouraged When Unable To Social Distance
Blair Oaks encourages the wearing of a mask any time you are not able to maintain six feet of social distance between yourself and other spectators. Students are required to wear a mask if sitting next to another student.
Wash Your Hands Frequently And Use Hand Sanitizer
Blair Oaks recommends that spectators wash their hands frequently. Hand sanitizer stations will be available at all activities.
Concessions
The Blair Oaks Middle School Student Council and FBLA Club will operate concession stands at all events.
Thank You! We Are Blair Oaks!
Your cooperation and your support of the Blair Oaks R-II School District, its students, coaches, and sponsors is greatly appreciated!
