Dear FJVD Families,

How quickly the weeks of summer fly by! Next week will bring us into August, and shortly thereafter we will be welcoming students back to the halls of Father Doyle School. I can't wait! I look forward to seeing many of you at our Back to School BBQ on Friday, August 23rd, as well as at Back to School Night on Monday, August 26th.

While it is natural for both parents and students to feel a certain sadness about the summer months slipping away, I hope it also brings a sense of hope and optimism for the new year. There are new skills to learn, more academic challenges to conquer, and much joy and laughter to be shared in the year ahead. It is a great privilege to work alongside you in this journey, and I hope you will join me in embracing the start of a new year.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, and dessert will be served.

Our annual Back to School Night will be held Monday, August 26th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. We will meet in the gym to begin the evening.

The evening will include:

• Welcome Back Information Session with the Principal
• Time to complete important back-to-school forms
• Opportunity to visit classrooms

Please make every effort to attend. We look forward to seeing you there!

If your children loan textbooks from the public school district and you have not returned your books from the 2018-2019 school year or submitted orders for the 2019-2020 school year, please review the information sent home at the end of the year regarding the textbook loan program. Most districts require that textbooks be returned/ordered soon to ensure they are available in time for the start of the school year.

Information regarding the the return and ordering policies for specific districts was sent home with students at the end of the year. Please contact Mrs. Laboissonniere (401-821-3756) if you have any questions. Thank you!

The Car Show will feature a baked goods sale this year, with all proceeds benefiting the school. The planning committee is in need of cookies, brownies, cupcakes, squares, breads, etc. Cookies, brownies, and cupcakes should be baked in sets of one dozen.

If you are able to provide baked goods for the Car Show this year, please email Mrs. Deb Moone at your earliest convenience at debbiemoone@fjvd.org. Include a description of your baked good and the amount you will be making.

FJVD is currently looking for a cross country coach. Meets are held on Wednesday evenings and practice time can be flexible. If you are interested in the position, know someone who may be interested, or would like more information, please contact me or call the school directly at 401-821-3756. Go Saints!

This program is a great way to reduce the cost of your tuition while supporting FJVDl!

The Process:

• The school purchases shopping cards from all of your favorite stores
• You purchase the cards from the school, paying face value and spending the same dollars you would have paid to the stores directly
• The school earns a percentage discount offered by participating stores.

For each $50.00 you spend, you get a stamp on your Tuition Discount Card. Fill the entire card and redeem it for a $75.00 tuition credit!

Cards currently available include:

Stop & Shop, Applebee's, Barnes & Noble, Dave's, Dunkin Donuts Panera, Wal-Mart and more!

Stop by the school Wednesdays from 10am-12pm or in the vestibule after the 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30am Sunday Masses to purchase your gift cards!

Please donate your clothing into the purple bins on the side of the Church! Father John V. Doyle School will benefit for every donation - even old sports and/or personalized items! Thank you!

Using the reading log attached below, keep track of how many books/pages you read over the summer. Then, turn in your reading logs at school (no later than September 5th). Your log must be signed by a parent.

How can you help? Save can tabs over the summer and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room when you return in August!

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up Father John V. Doyle School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.

All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
