Campus Highlights
MISD Athlete of the Month, February
Oluwadolapo Oladeinde, an 8th grader from Linda Jobe who participates in Football, Basketball, and Track was selected for his "grind every day" mentality. He is not only the main leader of the athletic program, but he is also constantly being recognized for his leadership within the classroom. He is hands down one of the most hard-working and respectful young men Coach Smith has had the pleasure of coaching.
Congratulations to these student-athletes and coaches for their hard work, leadership, and continued community support. This is why #WEAREMISD!Jobe Choir Earned 3 UIL Sweepstakes Award
Before Spring Break, the Jobe Choirs traveled to the Arlington Center for Visual and Performing Arts to compete in the Region 5 UIL Concert and Sight Reading Competition. The Combined Boys Choir, Combined Beginner & Intermediate Girls Choir, and the Advanced 8th Grade Girls Choir earned a "Superior" Rating in both Concert and Sight Reading. A "Superior" Rating is the highest rating at UIL. By earning top scores in both Concert & Sight Reading, all 3 Choirs were able to earn UIL's highest honor - the 3 UIL Sweepstakes Award for the Jobe Choirs!
Over 100 Choirs competed at Region 5 Choir UIL, and Jobe was one of the few schools in our entire Region that accomplished the honor of bringing home a Sweepstakes with EVERY CHOIR THAT COMPETED AT UIL!
Skills For Living Update
In March, students learned how to care for a sock baby during Skills For Living class. They learned that a baby needs to be fed/burped every 3 hours. Students could not leave their babies alone at any time. Some students mentioned it was a challenge because their parents made them take their babies to eat and other places. They were awesome grandparents!
In April, the students will hand-sew a throw pillow with a fabric of their own choosing. Then we will begin Food Labs in late April, baking pigs in a blanket, pizza, and S’mores. We will end the year with the all-time favorite “Free Cook," and make at least one recipe of their group’s choosing.
Cooking Club
Congratulations to Braylin Barnett, Alexa Griese, Riley McCain, and Hunter Self for breaking school records this season! We are very proud of all the athletes who received ribbons at the home track meet.
