Vocabulary Parade April 20th
Every year, aside from the 2 years during covid, we come together as a school and participate in the Vocabulary Parade. We are continuing with this practice. On April 20, 2023 we will dress up as our word of choice and march in the parade. This day is Earth Day so we will stick with words that are related to Earth Day.
The instructions are included in this blurb so that you can prepare for the parade. I look forward to seeing you all wearing your word costumes on April 20th.
Enjoy your break!

Notes from the School Nurse
Hello Parents/Guardians!
As we are now into cold/flu season and also still dealing with COVID-19, this note serves as a gentle reminder regarding a few things related to student health.
WHEN TO KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME FROM SCHOOL
1. Sick children need to be kept home from school; to include excessive coughing, sore throat, runny nose/congestion, vomiting, and/or high body temperatures (fever). Resting at home will help them get better more quickly and will prevent them from exposing other children or the staff to their illness.
2. For additional information and/or questions regarding when to keep your child home from school please visit the link below:

In Social Studies, students will begin Chapter 4: Government, Landmarks, and Symbols. Students will learn about the importance of the government and the different branches.
In Math, when we come back from break we are finishing up Topic 13, Fraction Equivalence and Comparisons. Scholars have had all of this week to work on their extra credit review, but they also can complete it during the break if they have time. Then we are starting Topic 14, working with time and measurements.
If you are looking for additional practice over the break, IXL has personalized study plans that contain skills your scholars should be practicing to prepare them for our upcoming standardized tests. As long as they are logged in to IXL, this link will have skills based on their assessed skill level. https://www.ixl.com/math/skill-plans/map-math-study-plan
In science, we are also finishing up our latest topic, where scholars have been learning about life cycles and traits. Scholars will need to be able to describe plant and animal life cycles, explain how traits are inherited, and predict how the environment might affect traits.

Fourth Grade
Fantastic Fourth Graders!
We strongly encourage parents to check SchoolMax weekly to stay abreast of your scholar's progress in all academic areas. Students can redo eligible assignments within a week of being posted. Weekly check-ins with your scholar about his/her grades is a great way to set goals and reflect on progress.
We are in need of hand sanitizers, disinfecting wipes, and facial tissues. Allergy season is upon us and we would like to continue to keep our classrooms germ free.
Additionally, please ensure that your child is dressed warmly when they arrive to school in the mornings. We have outdoor recess at 11:50 a.m. if the temperature is at or above 32 degrees. It is important that students are dressed appropriately for the weather.
