STAFF SPOTLIGHT!!
Getting to know you!
Mrs. Zuber has graciously agreed to be our 1st featured staff member. Thank you Mrs. Zuber!
Mrs. Zuber is an alumni of Indiana State University where she studied Physical Education for K thru 12. In college she ran for both the track and cross country teams.
She has been teaching Physical Education and Health classes for over 30 years, and has spent the last 25 years with Franklin Township.
Mrs. Zuber and her husband are recent "Empty Nesters" and have just moved to a new(smaller) house this summer. Without a big house and the kids gone, she and her husband use their time doing all sorts of outdoor activities. Some of her favorite things to do are camping, hiking, driving her ATV, and gardening. She loves being outside whenever she can.
Mrs. Zuber has a son and a daughter. Her daughter is engaged to be married soon, so there are lots of things to do! Along with that exciting news, she has a new puppy! His name is Ollie, and he loves to go camping with them. In fact, in the picture below he jumped up on the bed because he feared being left behind.
I asked Mrs. Zuber what she liked the most about West and she said, "the staff!" "You really get the sense from everyone that you belong."
We are lucky to have Mrs. Zuber here at West!

Conflict Resolution Lessons
Ms. Power and Ms. Sutter have been in Social Studies classrooms over the past couple of weeks teaching conflict resolution lessons to all students. 6th grade students learned about basic conflict resolution vocabulary and brainstormed ways to deal with conflict in a healthy way. 7th grade students learned about the STAR method of conflict resolution and showed off their acting skills with skits. 8th grade students learned additional complex conflict resolution skills and displayed their knowledge of a healthy and effective resolution through art.
Parents/Guardians, you can quiz your students' knowledge at home by asking the following questions:
- 6th grade: Who is responsible for solving a conflict? What does "compromise" mean?
- 7th grade: What does the STAR acronym of conflict resolution stand for?
- 8th grade: What are I-statements and why are they important?
HOMEWORK HELP!!
Need help getting organized?
From the Nurse's Desk
** If your student has a chronic medical condition, the appropriate medical forms can be found on the township website. Please have these completed and signed by your child's physician ASAP so that I may get emergency info sent to their teachers. This includes asthma, seizures, severe food allergies and feeding tubes. If your student is to carry emergency medications on themselves, there is also a Consent to Carry and Self Administer that needs to be signed as well by physician and parent. Any questions can be directed to me at angie.schubach@ftcsc.org or 317-803-8205.
Parents/guardians need to bring medications to the clinic, you may NOT send medicine with your student. Medication consent forms can be found on the district website under the Parent, then click on Immunization requirements and Information, then on the far right click on Health Services forms.
We encourage parents of all girls to provide a spare set of clothing to be kept in their locker for potential female accidents. (ex. A pair of undies and leggings) We have a very limited supply of spare clothing and little space to house the ones we do have. Students also prefer to wear their own clothing. We have emergency feminie products for 25 cents students are expected to bring their own supplies and keep in their locker/pencil pouch.
Spare clothing is encouraged for any student with incontinence as well.
If your student has a medical condition that requires a special clinic pass, they should have received it by now. If they have not, please encourage them to stop by the clinic and I will provide it once I have received the documentation from their physician.
Thanks for your patience as we hit the ground running. As always if you have any health concerns please feel free to contact me at angie.schubach@ftcsc.org

SCHOOL INFORMATION
Attendance Policy:
When a student is going to be absent from school for any reason, the parent must call the attendance line (803-8290) and report it by 9:00 a.m. Upon returning to school following an absence or absences, the student shall bring a written statement. The note must contain dates of absences and reason as well as parent/guardian signature. These statements determine if the absence is excusable. Failure to report (verbal or written) a student absent within 24 hours will result in the absence being unexcused. Students will be considered unexcused for all absences other than those stipulated by administrative guidelines, state, or federal statutes. Additional information regarding attendance practices & policies can be found on pages 8-10 in the Student Handbook.
Student Make-Up Work practices can be found on page 10 of the Student Handbook.
