Ventana Vistas
August 2nd - 8th, 2023
Hello Ventana Families
We are so excited to welcome our new families to Ventana Vista and welcome our returning
families to Ventana Vista. Avril Buick is our School Secretary and Emy Riedle is our Office Clerk,
I am sure most of you have met them, they are both very helpful and can answer your
questions. I am Dr. Dauman and I am beginning my second year here at Ventana Vista, I love it
here and I am grateful for everyone’s support that they provided me last year. Please look for a
weekly newsletter every Wednesday that will have all the information that you will need to stay
informed. Also, please reach out with any questions.
Staff
Our staff is back and they have been in trainings and professional development this week.
Meet the Teacher/Open House
We are excited to have families on campus and have you meet your child’s teachers. You will get an email from your child’s teacher today so you know which teacher(s) you will be meeting. Friday, August 4, from 10:00-12:00 grades 1st through 5th will stop by any time to meet the teacher. Remember to take the bus from the Basha’s at Kolb/Sunrise. You will need to plan about 30 minutes for this event.
Kindergarten Families only: Saturday, August 5th from 8:00 - 10:00 am you will be able to park in the lot, come on campus and meet the teacher(s), then practice drop off with Dr. Dauman.
Drop off and pick up procedures
Ms. Riedle, our office clerk, will be emailing you this year's hang tag for your rearview mirror. Please print this and give to anyone who will be picking up your child from school.
This number is specific to your family. Please have the hang tag up when you enter the school from Kolb. A staff member enters your number there and it calls your child to the loading zone where you will meet them. If you don't have the hang tag, it delays the process for everyone.
Please throw away last year's tag. Your child will likely have a new number this year as they are assigned alphabetically.
Please view the attached video.
Know where to go after I drop them off
When you arrive, you will pull into the loop loading/unloading zones and drop your child off in a zone. Be sure to pull as far forward as traffic will allow and be sure your child is ready to open the door and exit the vehicle to keep an efficient process for us.
Students will go directly to the playground or if they are getting breakfast, they will go to the
MPR. All students will meet their teacher on the playground and all teachers will be on the
playground the first week every day in the morning to meet their students. Please be sure your
child knows their teacher’s name. Each grade level also will have colored balloons.

Please park in the North parking lot and walk to the front of the school, where the flagpole is, to pick up your child at 11:00 am on MWTHF and 10:15 am on Tuesday. Your child's teacher will walk the children to the front of the school and meet you there.
For information on Kindergarten Plus please call Debbie at 520-209-7550 to register.
Good to Know
Monday, August 7, is the first day of school.
Please be certain that if your child is riding the bus, they ride it to school so they know the bus number. Parents will not be allowed on campus for security reasons. We will have adults helping to get bus students to the playground and also helping to get students being dropped off in the drop-off lane to the playground. Again, all classroom teachers will be on the playground welcoming their students. They will meet their homeroom teacher on the playground the entire first week of school. The students then will be taught and provided opportunities to practice the procedures going forward the second week of school and beyond.
August 8, 2023
Tuesday, the second day of school, we WILL have early release. Dismissal for grades 1st through 5th grade as well as Kindergarten Plus or full-day Kindergarten is at 1:30. Half -day Kindergarten will be dismissed at 10:15. Please park in the North Parking lot and pick up your child at the flag pole. Every Tuesday is an early release day unless it is not a full week of school. For example; Tuesday, September 5 will not be an early release day because Monday, September 4th is a holiday that week.
