What's Happening at Griffis

We can't wait to show you all the amazing things your students have to showcase at Open House. You are invited to visit your child's classroom and then join us for Pizza and Picasso in the Gym and Cafeteria!

Pizza and dessert will be served in the cafeteria. Students' art work will be displayed in the gym.

Each homeroom class will have an item to be auctioned off. Their class project will displayed in the gym as a silent auction. Bidding will end at 6:30 and you do not have to be present to win. There will be raffle items in the gym also.

Pizza and raffle tickets can be purchased during Open House if you did not preorder.

Be sure to mark your calendars - Thursday, April 14 will be a bad weather make-up day. Students will attend class that day.

Good Friday, April 15 will remain a holiday & Monday, April 18 will remain a day off (unless we have additional cancellations). We'll keep you posted!

Our next scheduled Parent Lunch on the Lawn is Friday, March 18th.

Lunch times are listed below. You may bring food for your child or they can get a tray from the cafeteria. You may park in the front or back of Griffis and enter by the soccer fields. Please arrive early so that you have plenty of time to get settled in before your child’s lunch time. We are looking forward to seeing you!

If the weather does not permit, the lunch will not be rescheduled and will resume the next month.

We are excited to announce that CMISD will have their second Elementary Track Meet this year for 3rd-5th grade. This event will be held on Friday, March 18th @ 6:00 PM.

Our Griffis Robo Foxes teams ALL advance to the Vex Robotics World Championship! They did an amazing job at the State Competition. We are so proud of their hard work. Thank you to Mr. Vanhuss for your dedication to this program and coaching your students to success!

The school report card (SRC) combines accountability ratings, data from the Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR), and financial information to give a broad view of campus performance. Available for each campus in Texas, the SRC is intended specifically to inform parents and guardians about a school’s individual characteristics and academic performance. The SRC can be found on the district website under the heading About Us.

Each month, we will focus on a particular character trait. Mrs. Wygal will give daily announcements regarding that trait to help the students put it into action. At the end of the month, each teacher will pick a student from their class that they feel has best demonstrated that trait. Those students will be recognized as the Character Students of the Month. The trait for the month of March is cooperation. Also, please see the monthly parent newsletter below.

Students not in the building by the 8:00 A.M. bell are considered tardy. Please refer to our campus handbook regarding our tardy policy. If your child is tardy, please do not drop your child off. For their safety, your child should be signed in. Please come to the front to sign them in.

New guidance from the United States Department of Agriculture allows all students to receive breakfast and lunch at no cost during the 2021 - 2022 school year.

With this announcement, CMISD will continue to process applications for the free breakfast and lunch program. This will ensure qualifying students will receive free lunch and breakfast during the first 30 days of the 2022 - 2023 school year. Applications will be sent home at the beginning of the school year and will also be available at each campus.

We want to show our appreciation for our WATCHDOGS that volunteered the month of September. Our students enjoy the time and high fives. Thank you for spending the day with us!
