Our 5th Grade students will begin their transition over to SCMHS next week.

• Monday, March 6- 5th Grade Parent Night over at SCMHS Lunchroom at 5:30.
• Tuesday, March 7- SCMHS Counselors will travel over to SCES to help students register for classes at 9:15 am.
• Wednesday, March 8- 5th Graders will travel over to SCMHS at 9:30 am to tour the campus.

Club Day A rotation will meet March 9th. Club Day B Rotation will meet March 23rd.

SCES, along with Seminole County Family Connection, will host Literacy on the Lawn at the Seminole County Football Field on Friday, March 10th at 6:00 PM. Community readers will read the book Lyle, Lyle, the Crocodile in small groups and we will then watch the movie as a whole group. Every student who attends the event will receive their very own copy of the book. Concessions will be available for families at a very reasonable price. Please bring your lawn chairs and blankets and join us for a great night of family fun.

Each month on the Parent Newsletter, SCES will have a parent resource section that will provide parents with useful resources that will aid in preparing your students for the challenges of school. We will update this section each month with new resources. GaDOE wants to spread the word about the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), administered by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which provides families affordable access to internet services. The program is a long-term funding source not associated with pandemic relief funds. ACP assists eligible households in paying for home internet access by providing a credit of up to $30 per month toward internet service. Additionally, ACP provides a voucher of up to $100 per eligible household toward a one-time purchase of a desktop computer, laptop, or tablet.

Estimates indicate more than one million Georgia families qualify for ACP, but only half have applied. Income and enrollment in specified government programs, including the student free and reduced lunch program, determine eligibility for ACP.

The biggest hurdle to participation is the enrollment process which requires individual households to apply, and many may have trust and access concerns. Schools and districts are in the best position to help eligible families submit the online ACP application because they are trusted. However, your schools may not have sufficient staff to fulfill the outreach effort. To help, GaDOE has contracted with CTC Technology & Energy (CTC) to promote ACP enrollment for students and their families. CTC will assist districts with coordinating and executing an outreach effort, including reaching out to parents individually if requested. This service is free to all districts that want to take advantage of it. CTC will be reaching out to you over the next few weeks to see what services you would like them to provide to your district.

The 3rd Quarter will end March 14th and Report Cards will be issued on Monday, March 20th.

We will begin accepting payments for Kindergarten Cap and Gowns on Monday, February 27th. Attached below is a letter explaining the cap and gown prices, deadlines and procedures. All payments should be sent to your kindergarten student's teacher.

Lifetouch will be on campus March 16th to take spring individual and class pictures. Be on the lookout for your picture flyer to order pictures directly from Lifetouch.

Get your dancing shoes ready and your singing voice warmed up. Seminole County Family Connection will once again host Seminole's Got Talent on April 25th at the SCES Auditorium at 6:00. Be sure to have your best talent available for display.

On Friday, March 10 at 8:00 AM, we invite you to come in and hear our latest school improvement updates with Paige Miller our school counselor. We would love for you to stay and read to our kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade classrooms.

Ice cream will be sold each Thursday throughout the school year. Students will also be able to purchase slushies in the lunchroom all other days of the week. Both can be purchased for $1.

SCES will host a spaghetti supper and game night on Thursday, April 13th at 6:00 PM in the SCES Cafeteria. You must let us know if you are coming. Complete and return the form below or scan the QR Code and complete the form and you will receive “tickets” for each family member to enter the SCES Cafeteria. You must bring your tickets to the event! The tickets will be collected when you sign in at the event. The tickets will be placed in a drawing for a $100 Visa Gift Card and 4-$25 Visa Gift Cards.
