Shout Out!

I want to send a great big shout out to Ms. Monaghan; she is the BOSS of the bus room. Ms. Monaghan has worked very hard, starting this summer, to ensure students are assigned to a bus and that they know their bus routes and number. She has been instrumental in getting the Zpass cards to students in a timely manner. Ms. Monaghan has also let administration know of students who did not receive a Zpass so that we can get one printed for them. Ms. Monaghan has taken on the extra duty this year of handling the temporary bus passes. If you have students that do not bring their Zpass to school or report to you that they have lost theirs, then send them to Ms. Monaghan. Please call her first to ensure she is in her room and available at the time.

H.E.A.T. Recycling

This Friday the H.E.A.T team assembled to collect recyclables from the classroom. Please remember to save paper, cardboard, cans, and plastic bottles for recycling. Make sure you keep these items separated. If you have cans please rinse them out prior to putting them in the bin to recycle. We don't need our students getting sticky!!! Make sure you watch for an email from Ms. Newton for instruction on recycling each week. If anyone knows of a person that would be willing to make vests for the H.E.A.T. team to wear when they are performing their duties around campus please let me know. I would love to get some made for our students so they can easily be identified and celebrated for the great work they are doing to keep our campus looking good.

New cafeteria procedures

Soon we will begin a new procedure for how students pay for their trays. The district has decided to move the point of sale to the beginning of the line. This means students will pay first before they receive their tray. Making this adjustment will reduce the number of dropped trays and help students and cafeteria staff ensure students are getting the proper meal plan. We have also placed baskets for grades K-2 by the door for students to place their ID badges prior to going outside. K-2 teachers please make sure you put a student leader in charge of collecting the badges and then returning the basket to the cafeteria. If grade 3-4 would like to do this as well, please let me know.

Community table aka "Harvest Helping Hamper"

Trice has been approved to set up a community table for students to place food items that they do not what to eat. This will help cut down on the amount of food and milk wasted every day. And it will ensure students getting plenty to eat. The procedures for the community table are: students may place an unopened item on the table. Items may be brought from home as long as they are purchased from a store and sealed in their original container(no Ziploc bags.)

Students may choose an item off the table if they have eaten everything on their plate and are still hungry. Students may take one item at a time and then ask to get another if they are still hungry. Students may not take items home. All items taken must be eaten in the cafeteria prior to going outside.

Teacher Excellence and Support System--TESS

As we enter week 3 of the school year Mr. McDonald and I will begin to conduct informal and formal observations. We will also begin conducting classroom walk through using the ELEOT assessment tool through Advanced ED. The district is adopting this tool to ensure continuity across the district as well as to help capture valuable data to use when making decisions about culture, assessment, curriculum and other best practices.

Will Sub

If you are going to be out you must contact WillSub even if a sub is not required. Any reason other than personal illness requires approval from the principal before a sub will be booked. If you are planning to use a personal day then you must put in the request at least 24 hours in advance. Please make requests as early as possible in order to get the sub you want. To enter a sub request on line go to: www.willsub.com or phone 1-877-945-5782. You are always responsible for requesting your own sub or turning in your absence. If you are planning to be out for half a day, then the time is 7:45-11:45 for the morning and 11:45-3:45 for the afternoon. Please also notify me and Ms. Becky by email, text or phone if you are going to be absent.
