Happy Halloween!

Breakfast will be free for all students this year. Students may enter the building at 7:40 a.m. for breakfast and they will eat in the cafeteria. Students not eating breakfast can enter the building at 7:50 a.m. School starts at 7:55 a.m and ends at 2:55 p.m. Half days are 7:55-11:20 a.m.

Free meals for all students will not continue for the 2022-2023 school year. We encourage families to complete a Free and Reduced Lunch Application below.

If your student has outgrown their Little Eagles spirit wear and you would like to donate it, please send it in with your student or drop it off in the office and we will get it to a student in need of some blue and gold!

It’s that time of year again when trunks are filled with treats, families and the community come together, and good times are had by all! If you, your business or service group would like to participate or donate to Columbia School District's annual Trunk or Treat, please contact monika.cook@myeagles.org or amanda.bamm@myeagles.org for more information. If you would like to donate candy to the event, you can send it with your student to school.

Showing up to school greatly impacts a student's academic success. Families play a crucial role in ensuring that a student gets to school safely and on time daily. We understand that absences are unavoidable, such as illness or medical appointments. Please call in advance if your child will not be in school.

Thank you parents for all of the support you have shown us as we complete our first full month of school! The students are settling in to the new routine. It's still so crucial that you continue to help them have great routines at home. Children require a lot of sleep. It's recommended that children between the ages of 5-11 get between 9-11 hours of sleep each night. So if your student is waking up at 6am then they should be in bed by 8pm to get an average amount of sleep (some kids need more). Having enough sleep will help your child be ready to engage in learning and do all of the great activities that are planned for them throughout the day without being cranky and tired. School is exhausting and if they start off tired it can be hard for some students.

Thank you to the parents who were able to join us for our first Coffee Chat on September 14th. We had a great discussion about school safety and getting to know each other. Our next Coffee Chat will be November 30th from 8:15-8:45am. I hope you will be able to join us. We also have an opportunity for you to join our Virtual Parent Talk Session this month on October 26th from noon-1pm. We will have a speaker from True Community Credit Union giving us financial tips for parents. Our next PTO meeting will be on October 6th at 6pm at CUES (library). Child care is provided. We would love to have you join us for any of our future events!!

As the weather starts to get cooler, please remember to send a jacket, gloves and hat to school with your student.

Great Start Readiness Program in Jackson County is currently accepting applications for 3 and 4 year old children for the 2022-2023 school year. Children must be 4 years old by December 1, 2022 to qualify for the Great Start Readiness Program and 3 years old by December 1, 2021 to qualify for Head Start.

Happy Fall Little Eagles!

Over the past month I am thankful to have had the chance to check in with every student k-2 with minute meetings! I am glad to see everyone is off to a great year, and to learn a little about each of our amazing Little Eagles.

In October we will be focusing on Bully Prevention and spreading kindness!

I will be visiting each classroom to discuss and practice how we all can be "buddies not bullies". We will be acknowledging the National Bully Prevention day on Wednesday, October 19th by wearing something orange on this day.

This month our Character Trait focus is: Acceptance.

Happy Spooky Season Little Eagles!

It has been such a great month and start to the school year. Last month I had the opportunity to be in the classroom teaching the students all about germs and the proper way to wash our hands. The students received coloring sheets to take home that went along with our lesson and they all did very well practicing and answering questions.

For the month of October we will be discussing hygiene. As a member of the Wellness Committee, we have decided to create videos throughout the year to discuss topics such as hygiene, fitness, nutrition, etc. I will be creating a video for both the students (teachers will show the video in class) and one to share with you all. We want our students to be the best person they can be and it all starts at home! We thought this would be a great way to keep everyone involved and up to date on what we are teaching at school so it can also be talked about at home. With Covid-19 and the flu becoming more prevalent this time of year, I encourage you to keep an eye out for signs and symptoms and make our staff aware if your student comes into contact with anyone who is sick or who has tested positive for Covid. Since our protocol and policies are always changing, we can inform you of what we are doing at this time to keep our staff and students safe and healthy.
