Recognitions
The Board of Education recognized John Dimit, for his service to the students, families, staff and community while serving on the Board of Education for the past 34 years (1987-2021). He was presented with a plaque and Urbana Tiger figure.
Youth Assessment Center Supports and Renewal of the Agreement
Linda Gibbens, Director of Grant Based Programs shared an overview of current services and supports provided by the Youth Assessment Center and shared the proposed renewal agreement.
A program of the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission, the Youth Assessment Center (YAC) serves as the primary center for intake, screening, and service connection for Champaign County youth and families.
YAC case managers screen at-risk youth and link them and their families with the
community’s support and restorative services. Law enforcement personnel typically make referrals to YAC as an alternative to prosecution and to help prevent further delinquent activities.
Social Emotional, Mental Health, and Community Layered Supports for Students
Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning, Kim Norton; Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, Todd Taylor; and Director of Grant Based Programs, Linda Gibbens gave the
Board an update on the District's current social-emotional and mental health supports for students.
