A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
If you want to be LUCKY this final 9 weeks you must PREPARE and KEEP SHOWING UP! Attendance must improve! Let's talk about SHOWING up, as I reminded you last week, attendance matters all the way until the end of the year. If you miss more than 10% of the school year, we are required to file truancy, so please help us by showing up and taking care of your business. All medical notes from a doctor or clinic, must be turned in within the 5 day grace period after the absence.
There are no FREE days when it comes to exemptions. Exemptions are NOT a right, they are a privilege, and one that you must work hard for academically, behaviorally, and by being present at school! Parent notes do not ensure you receive them, the 3 day absence limit is still in effect to be eligible for them. As the LCISD handbook states...3 tardies EQUALS 1 absence. If you are not on a BUS that is late, you are not excused when coming in late.
Speaking on late buses, this past week, I know you are frustrated as we are having up to 8 late morning buses and 2-3 late afternoon buses due to bus driver shortages causing comeback routes. Rest assured that I know this is a problem, and I am in constant contact with the Director of Transportation, as we are trying to find other solutions.
Attention SENIORS! We are taking your panoramic picture tomorrow (Monday) during 3rd period! More details to come on the announcements.
We are SOLD OUT of parking spots for this year. You can add you name to the waiting list, in case we have some open up, but for now, we do not have any spots left at GRHS or RJH. Thanks for your understanding.
Keep BEING THE ONE to wear your ID and be in dress code. This is NOT optional, so there is no need to be disrespectful when we are holding you accountable. Rules are just expected to be followed, whether you agree with them or not. That's life. Your everyday choices matter and that includes your respectful body language and good manners...that I KNOW your parents taught you.
Who is interested in making a positive impact at George Ranch High School?? If that’s YOU, then join the GRHS PTO Executive Board! See the info below! This is not the same time commitment as an Elementary PTO...so don't be scared! :)
ID Weekly Reminder
ID MUST be worn visibly on the top half of your body EVERY DAY! I announce this EVERY SINGLE MORNING. If you cannot find yours please scan the Blue/Yellow QR code in this newsletter, in the classrooms, or hanging in the front of the school service window to buy one. We will continue to do ID sweeps, and anyone without one will be charged $5 and given a new one. This is NOT optional, as it is part of dress code, but more importantly a safety measure so we can quickly see who belongs and who does not on campus.
