OCTOBER IS SAFETY MONTH

As mentioned last week, safety within our schools is a priority for the Burlington Area School District. As part of our safety plan, October will be school safety month.
Next weeks drill will be the Run Drill - this will be held on Tuesday, October 17th. As part of the Run Drill, we will be walking over to Karcher School. Karcher is Waller's Evacuation point. (For this practice drill, our 4K students will not have to walk that far - they will only have to go as far as Kane St.)

WALLER PTO TRUNK OR TREAT!
Hopefully this email will make Packer fans happy and give you a week longer to get costumes and your trunks ready to go!
It was discovered at our PTO meeting last night that there was a miscommunication about the date of our Trunk or Treat. The Trunk or Treat is actually on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29TH, NOT Sunday, October 22nd. Same time/same place/same information!
If you have already registered, and are good with the 29th, you don't need to do anything. If you registered, and the 29th doesn't work for you, please just let Mrs. Behling or Mrs. Hoffman know so that we can adjust our numbers.
If you haven't registered at all, you still have time, but please do so soon! A yellow paper registration form came home last week, however, be sure to note the change of date! You can also register online through the link below. Just a reminder that you are welcome to decorate your trunk, but if you choose not to, please be sure to bring a bowl full of candy!

OPERA FOR THE YOUNG EVENT
Third Grade Parents ~ Save the Date ~ Mark Your Calendars ~
On Wednesday, November 1st at 1:30, Waller will be hosting Opera for the Young! This years performance will be "Beauty and the Beast". Each year our 3rd graders are able to perform along with the cast that comes to Waller by learning the music, and some of the kids by learning a few lines in the story! Some students will be part of the "onstage" chorus, and others will be performing on risers as the "offstage" chorus. Families are welcome to attend the performance and the gym doors will open at 1:15 for the event.
Mrs. Barczak will annouce which kids will receive roles by the end of the school day on October 13th. Please encourage your child to practice their parts between now and the performance. SCHOOL PICTURES
If you ordered school pictures, they have arrived at school and have been sent home during this past week! If you didn't order any but would still like to, information was provided on the "Proof Card" that your child brought home! If you have any questions feel free to call Network Photography at 262-677-8662, or if it is a simple question Mrs. Behling may be able to help as well.
MILWAUKEE BUCKS - ATTENDANCE MATTERS
During the month of October we will be working along with the Milwaukee Bucks in a program called "Attendance Matters". Any student that attends school every day in October will receive a certificate honoring you for your achievement, and you will be eligible to receive one complimentary Bucks ticket with the purchase of at least one additional ticket. Tickets will be available to select 2023-24 regular season home games. Stay Healthy!
