Pi Day is just around the corner, and we’ve got the perfect resources to help you celebrate! Whether you’re teaching in-person or remotely, our grab-and-go Pi Day template is filled with engaging activities and lessons that make math fun and approachable for all students.

What’s Inside the Pi Day Template?

We know how challenging it can be to juggle lesson planning, so we’ve curated fun and unusual resources to explore the concept of Pi (π) from different angles. Whether you’re looking for math-focused activities or cross-curricular tie-ins, we’ve got you covered!

  • Fun Pi Facts and History: Start your Pi Day celebration with National Today’s collection of fun facts and history about Pi, a great way to introduce students to this irrational number that’s at the heart of so many math concepts.
  • Pi Jokes to Lighten the Day: What’s a math-themed day without some humor? Share some Pi jokes with your students to bring a little fun into the classroom. After all, Pi isn’t just serious math—it’s also seriously funny!
  • Art Meets Math: Who said Pi was just for math class? Explore artistic representations of Pi, such as translating Pi into colorful visual art. It’s a great way to engage students who love creativity while still connecting to the theme of the day.
  • Literacy Connection- Homophones: Pi Day is also the perfect opportunity to tie in a literacy lesson on homophones. Challenge students to explore wordplay with phrases like “Pi” and “pie”—it’s a fun way to incorporate language arts into your Pi Day celebrations.
  • Calculator Investigations: Of course, Pi Day wouldn’t be complete without some calculator explorations of Pi! Dive into fascinating calculations and help students understand why Pi is an essential part of math, geometry, and beyond.

Bonus: Pi Songs, Teaching Resources, and Pies!

Towards the end of our Pi Day template, you’ll find even more resources, including a song about Pi and a comprehensive roundup of teaching resources to help you get the most out of your Pi Day celebrations. And if you’re in the mood to get hands-on, we’ve even included some delicious pie recipes to bake with your students or suggest as a fun family activity!
