Dear Parents/Guardians:
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness Test, an assessment for all 3rd - 5th students in Illinois, will be administered in District 64 from March 13-March 24.
The best preparation for the IAR has been the quality instruction our teachers have provided this school year. However, there are things you can also do to promote your child’s success:
Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and eats a healthy breakfast before each day of testing.
Provide your child with words of encouragement. While we don’t want our students to feel anxious about any assessment, we do want them to do their best.
The IAR is an online assessment, and students will be using their Chromebooks to complete these tests. Please make sure your child brings his or her Chromebook to school each day, fully charged.
Below is our school’s schedule for test administration:
Monday, March 13: Math Test 1
Tuesday, March 14: ELA Test 1
Wednesday, March 15: No Testing Occured
Thursday, March 16: ELA Test 2
Friday, March 17: Math Test 2
Monday, March 20: Math Test 3
Tuesday, March 21: ELA Field Test 3
Tuesday, March 21 - Friday, March 24: Makeup Testing
If you would like to learn more about the IAR tests, sample tests are available for your review. Thank you for your support in helping your child be prepared for upcoming testing.
Arrival Changes
Over the last few weeks, District 64 staff have been reviewing and collaborating with various Park Ridge community resources to problem-solve our Kiss & Go arrival procedures. Through this process, it has been determined that the impact on the neighborhood traffic patterns and safety to all community members (students, families, and neighbors) necessitates that we discontinue the Kiss & Go. The last day for Kiss & Go will be Friday, March 24, 2023. After spring break, student arrival will return to the class lines on the blacktop. No doors along Manor will be open for student arrival. Dismissal procedures will continue as normal.
We understand this change may impact your current morning routines. We also recognize that this change may be met with mixed emotions and reactions. As always, your partnership and support are greatly appreciated as we adjust arrival procedures for the betterment of our Franklin community.
You can view the current Franklin COVID-19 cases on the Franklin COVID-19 Dashboard found here. The dashboard is updated at the end of the day, Monday through Friday.
Weather permitting, the lost and found will be outside the front doors (circle drive - Door 3) for parent/guardians to swing by and check at arrival and dismissal. Please take a moment to check for any lost items.
Please take a moment to review your Parent Portal for the safety and security of our students to avoid confusion at pickup.
- At least two contacts for each child's portal account
- Accurate phone numbers for all contacts
- Up-to-date primary address for your residence
If you are changing information for adults who have permission to pickup your child, please make sure this new information is in the Parent Portal. Please ensure you check the pickup permission box and include any other relevant information.
Notify your teacher and the front office of any changes by email or phone at 847-318-4390.
Anyone Entering Franklin
All parents/guardians/visitors to Franklin must have a valid state ID or driver’s license. These will be entered into the Raptor identification system. This process only takes a short time to complete. Once you have clearance, a visitor pass will be printed and attached to a lanyard that you must wear throughout the building. The office will hold your ID until you return to the office and return the lanyard that was given to you. We request that you please be patient with staff as we proceed with this district-mandated safety procedure.
Student-Parent Handbook
Franklin Elementary School, along with all District 64 schools, operates following policies and practices that have been reviewed and implemented by the District 64 Board of Education. Please review the D64 Student-Parent Handbook before the start of the school year.
