What a wonderful time of year it is to put our kind hearts to work. Our Adopt an Angel ornament tree was up again this year in our school office with approximately twenty families being adopted for the holidays. We are so grateful and blessed to have so many caring families with kind hearts wanting to help provide for others.

Our Gertie Belle Rogers Staff wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! May 2023 be a year full of kindness and positivity. Thank you for sharing your children with us.

You are already missed, Mrs. Swenson! We said good bye to Mrs. Swenson the end of November as she decided to take a different position elsewhere in Mitchell. Mrs. Swenson was so well liked by all the staff and students and has been a tremendous asset to this school since they day she started.

Please keep in mind with Mrs. Swenson's leaving that the office will be in transition until someone new is hired and trained. Please be patient with us; especially if we have a sub answering the phone and she is not familiar with all of our families and names.

• Please send warm weather gear as we WILL go outside if the temperature, or wind chill, is zero degrees or above. Please also send shoes to change into as we do not want our learners in boots all day. We have a limited supply of extra gloves, mittens, and hats.

• Call or visit the school office to update your contact and/or emergency contact information.
• Sign up to receive school related notifications by downloading the app. Go to ww.schoolinfoapp.com or download the Mitchell School District app on your iphone or android device. You can choose Gertie Belle Rogers if you'd prefer to only receive 'what's happening' at Gertie Belle Rogers Elementary.
• Doors open and supervision begins at 7:30 AM daily. We do not have supervision prior to this time. Please make note as we will have some very cold mornings students will be waiting outside before 7:30 AM. We ask that only those students who are wanting to eat breakfast come prior to 7:45 a.m. We ask that students who are not wanting to eat breakfast come as close to 8:00 a.m. if at all possible.
  
• Just a reminder that school does begin at 8:15 a.m. We have been seeing many students coming in after 8:15 and thus being counted absent / tardy by their teacher. Please remind your student if arrival is after 8:15 a.m. he/she must stop in the office for an admit slip.

Congratulations to our 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Zirpel, for winning this months Empower Our Educators Educator award. Mrs. Zirpel's name was selected from many educator's that were nominated throughout the month of November. Teresa won a full Platinum detail from Shine Design Detailing, a gift card from Arnie's Gas Station, and a cash gift from the Empower Our Educators Organization.

Thank you, Mrs. Zirpel, for making the world a better place!

On December 28th the GBR PTA will hold a fundraiser during the Basketball Games at the Corn Palace from 11:00 - 7:00 pm at The Main Street Mercantile. Please stop down for lunch, supper, snack or any fun purchase to help support our school.

Next PTA meeting is January 23, 2023 from 6:00 - 7:00 pm in the GBR Common's. We need your support and help to plan for our February Dance and upcoming raffle. Without more help and your idea's, we cannot do it ourselves.

If you are interested in registering for the Dental Mobile please contact our School Nurse, Marlett Snoozy, at 605-995-7505. A registration form will then be sent home with your student for you to complete and return to the school nurse.
