Ms. Sharpe - Professional School Counselor Mattaponi Elem
Happy New School Year!
Dear Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself! My name is Ms. Tracie Sharpe and I am the professional school counselor at Mattaponi Elementary School. I am so excited to be part of the Eagle family; already it is so apparent how close-knit and welcoming the Mattaponi community is, I feel very blessed to be part of it!
My passion for school counseling began during my time as a student at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore where I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and then went on to earn my MEd in School Counseling. I have 22 years combined school counseling experience. What I love most about the elementary level is the genuine curiosity students have in their learning and the world around them, as well as the opportunity for early intervention support that can have a lifetime positive impact on a child.
As a School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, career, and social/emotional development of all students. I look forward to offering support to the Mattaponi Elementary students, staff, families, and community. I will be meeting with students individually and in small groups, conducting classroom counseling lessons, meeting with parents, collaborating with teachers and staff, and consulting with community organizations to benefit and meet the needs of our Mattaponi Elementary students.
Even during these unprecedented times, the school counseling program is designed to reach and meet the needs of all students through various ways, including those listed above. I am here to advocate for all students. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call (301) 599-2442 ext. 56892 or email me at tracie.sharpe@pgcps.org at any time.
I am so excited to work with your scholars and get to know you throughout the school year!
All the best,
Tracie Sharpe
