Fisher Family Update
September 8, 2023

Dear Fisher Families,
The next time you walk into the Fisher School, please check out the beautiful, framed painting of the Fisher School sign up on the bulletin board. It was painted by Mrs. Mohammed, who is the mom of Zeeshan Mohammed, one of last year’s 5th graders. Mrs. Mohammed said this painting “is a reminder that Fisher School fosters love, kindness and support to the community.” I hope you have the chance to enjoy it soon!
As you are well aware...this week provided us with some of the hottest weather of the year! The teachers and staff did all they could to keep the kids and themselves cool and we enjoyed some old school indoor recess fun...board games, drawing, Simon Says and much more. Despite the heat, we had another great week at Fisher School. Hopefully, cooler temps take over next week!
Enjoy the weekend,
Brian

Fisher Counselors’ Newsletter - September 2023
Hello Fisher Families and Welcome back! Another school year is in full swing here at Fisher and it is wonderful to see everyone’s excited, smiling faces.
As we begin the year, we will spend time getting to know the incoming Kindergarten students as well as support all students as they settle into their new classrooms. Come mid September SWIM lessons will begin. This month, many of the lessons will focus on various activities for students to get to know their peers a bit better, build up the classroom community and review our Fisher motto, S.W.I.M.- Show Respect, Work collaboratively, Integrity First, Make Good Choices.
We look forward to getting started and are excited for a great school year ahead.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to a counselor at any time.
Thank you,
Erin Mansfield and Carly Mahoney

Open positions at Fisher!
Are you looking for a part time job that will strengthen your ties to Fisher? We are hiring for 2 recess aides! Hours are 10:35 to 2:20. Please click here to apply. If you would like to speak to somebody about this opportunity further, please contact the main office.
Arrival/Dismissal Information
Thank you for your patience as we familiarize ourselves with your students and their arrival and dismissal plans. If you need to change your plan for dismissal, please send in a note with your student. A follow up phone call to the office is also recommended. Please do not email teachers during the school day with a change in dismissal. Teachers don’t regularly check emails during the day. If a change needs to be made, please call the main office and our secretary will relay the message to your child’s teacher.
Dismissal is delayed in order to determine where individual students need to be at the end of the day (extended day, bus, car, walker, after school activity, etc.) We wait to dismiss until it is confirmed that all students are where they need to be. One group of students that is held are “walkers”. If your child is being dismissed as a walker, you are welcome to walk to Door # 18 (by the Fisher Farms garden), speak with a staff member and leave with your student. Otherwise, walkers will need to wait until it is confirmed that all students are at their proper dismissal location.

Featured Fisher Student
Meet Jai Chauhan, a bright young student at Fisher Elementary School, who's about to step into the exciting world of 5th grade this fall. Back in 4th grade, during his social studies class, Jai discovered the wonders of America's national parks and the fantastic "Every Kid Outdoors" program. Jai knew he wanted to experience these national treasures.
His dream came true when he set out on a 10-day journey to explore six incredible national parks. Utah's Mighty Five – Zion, Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and Bryce Canyon. But that's not all; Jai also recommends a must-visit to the Grand Canyon, not just for its proximity, but for its awe-inspiring beauty.
Jai's vividly describes Zion's uniqueness – the vibrant green landscapes and the thrilling Narrows hike. Arches, he tells us, is renowned for its captivating natural arch formations. And fear not, young explorers – most of the hikes are quite manageable on cooler days.
Jai's journey also led him to Canyonlands National Park, a land of intriguing rock formations and historical significance. It once served as a uranium mining site and even witnessed the transformation of a canyon over time.
In Capitol Reef, Jai marveled at the rock formations that looked like a reef on land, complete with ancient petroglyphs etched into the stone. And then there's Bryce Canyon “Amphitheater”, where you can walk down into the canyon and back up, all while unraveling the fascinating story of its creation. Jai must recommend the “Navajo loop” hike.
Last but certainly not least, the Grand Canyon stole Jai's heart. The views are beyond imagination, and he suggests capturing them from the strategically positioned viewing decks that offer the perfect photo ops.
Jai's message is clear – the Mighty Five and the Grand Canyon are more than just natural wonders; they are places of inspiration, adventure, and learning. He encourages every kid out there to explore these treasures, take advantage of the "Every Kid Outdoors" program, and make memories that will last a lifetime. So, let Jai's enthusiasm spark your own adventure and discover the magic of America's national parks today! For more detailed information on these parks and how to get there please visit his

Fisher Students Giving Back
A few Fisher School students opened a lemonade stand during Labor Day weekend. These kids really deserve a big shout out! It was a first grade students idea to do the lemonade stand, he alongside a few other Fisher students and they raised 700 dollars for the Fire Department! It was great to see the kids get excited when the Walpole Firefighters stopped by for some lemonade.
