Wow, what a busy month of March we had! That month always seems to fly by as we have so many events going on throughout the building. We had a very successful week of Parent/Teacher Conferences. Many thanks to our parents for understanding how important it is that we work together to ensure your child's academic success. Our attendance at Spring conferences was 96%!! Thank you!

We are now gearing up for a busy month of state testing in April. The Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress is scheduled for April 20th - 25th at Danville Elementary. Students in grades 3 - 6 will be tested in Literacy, Language/Writing, and Math. Students in 5th grade will also take the Science test in addition to the other content areas. All students in grades 3 -6 will also be taking the Conditions For Learning survey during the same time period. Parents should have received information on the survey in their child't report card envelope.

Finally, our Spring FAST testing and Writing screeners are coming up towards the end of April/beginning of May. As always, we will send your child's data home with him/her when we complete the Spring testing window. Watch for information about the testing sessions in your child's backpack towards the end of the school year.

Wednesday, April 6th is Paraprofessional Appreciation Day! We have some outstanding paras at Danville Elementary that go out of their way to help students in our building. We are so lucky to have this amazing crew as part of our staff. Please help us in wishing our Danville paras a fabulous day!

On Saturday, April 9th Danville will host a Mini Dance Marathon event in memory of Danville's own Mason Roberts at the school. The event is being put on by the Roberts family and it is an offshoot of the student-led University of Iowa Dance Marathon charity event that is held annually at the University of Iowa.

The Dance Marathon event will be held from 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Danville Community School. The dance event will be held in one gym, while games, activities, a bake sale, and a silent auction will be held in the other gym. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the U of I Dance Marathon to help families that have children battling childhood illnesses.

Students in grades 3 - 6 will be taking the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) between April 20th - 26th. Students in all grades will be tested in Literacy, Math, and Language/Writing. Students in 5th grade will also take the Science assessment. The assesssments are taken on a computer. Students will also have as long as necessary to take the tests as they are untimed.

You can help your child be successful on this year's state testing by assuring they get a good night's sleep before the exam and encouraging them to take their time and give their best effort.

Do you know a child that will be eligible for Kindergarten in the fall? Danville Elementary is currently seeking incoming Kindergarten students for the 2022-2023 school year. Kindergarten Round Up is scheduled for Wednesday, April 6th from 8:30 - 11:00 a.m.

Parents that attended the Kindergarten Registration meeting already, will be sent their child's round up time in the coming weeks. If you did not attend the registration meeting on February 23rd, you may call Alice in the elementary office at 319-392-4221 to set up your child's round up time. Students must be five years old by September 15, 2022 to qualify for Kindergarten next year. Open enrollment papers will be available at round up upon request. Kindergarten open enrollment papers are due by September 1, 2022.
