Dear Families,

What a great second week of school it is! Students are thriving this week! They are learning, making friends, and enjoying being back. This week was easier for us all since we have learned the routines and schedules. I would say the hardest part for our students is adapting to being at school for almost 7 hours a day! I bet you are noticing that your child/ren are coming home tired! We will continue to develop and grow our stamina!

Now that it is the second week of school, teachers will be reaching out to connect with families. This may be a virtual meeting, and in person outside meeting, or a phone call. Please look for information about this from your child's teacher.

I hope all of your children are feeling loved, supported, and have shared stories with you. I would love to hear how the first 7 days of school have gone. Please email me at baileyj@newberg.k12.or.us and share what you are hearing on your end!!! What is your child saying about school? What is going well? Did you hear anything funny? I hope to hear from you!

School hours for students are 8:00 - 2:40 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 9:00 - 2:40 on Wednesdays. As part of our safety protocols, all school doors will remain closed and locked until 7:50. Students will begin entering the building at 7:50 (8:50 on Wednesdays).

We are excited to welcome our students back to school in person this year. In order to accomplish this, the district is going to be sure to follow all OHA and ODE requirements. At this time that includes...

• Social distancing of 3 feet in all areas (6 feet distancing in cafeteria)

• Requiring masks in school for staff and students

• Keeping students home if they have colds (this is standard school practice, but even more important in the era of COVID)

• Greeting students as they enter school, visual health check, and providing hand sanitizer

• Using hand sanitizer and washing hands frequently

• When picking up, please have the yellow paper with your child's name on it in the top right corner of your dashboard. These yellow papers came in the first day envelope. If you need one, please let the office know.
• Please have your child ready to go with a mask on and seatbelt off once you pull up to the cones.
• Students will not be called until 2:40 each day. Sometimes classes are late so please be patient.
• Miss Anita and Mrs. Bailey will only be calling the first few cars/waiting parents for safety reasons. We need to make sure the child leaves the building and gets to the correct adult.
• If you need to buckle up your child once they get in the car, please pull forward to the "buckle up" area. This helps move the traffic faster! Thank you!
