Student of the Week
TRUSTWORTHINESS
The A-G Student of the Week is Paola Gonzalez,
nominated by Ms. Garcia.
She is always willing to assist staff and students alike. She works hard and is conscious of everyone around her. - Tiffany Garcia
The H-O Student of the Week is Luke Mutolo,
nominated by Ms. Bowers and Ms. Ducote.
In reading class, Luke is a model student who is cooperative, helpful, and keeps a positive attitude. Luke has generously taken the initiative to work with his tablemates in science when they are struggling with content and language. He has displayed citizenship and caring attributes with a smile and positive attitude every day. Ms. Ducote is proud of him for initiating this wonderful generosity on his own. - Nydande Bowers and Meggan Ducote.
The P-Z Student of the Week is Kohen Robert,
nominated by Ms. Miller.
I am nominating Kohen because he always shows responsibility and respect. Whether it is his work ethic in class, when he has been absent, or simply being kind and cleaning up something that will help me. He is always respectful in his interactions with both myself and his peers. He displays the character traits that all students should strive to display. - Erin Miller
A note from Mr. Semmler
1) Progress Reports - Progress Reports are loaded into Skyward for each student. The attachment below has directions on how to view your student's progress report in Skyward.
2) Afternoon Dismissal - We are asking the students to stay close to the front door at dismissal. How does this help? When parents pull all the way to the #1 spot at the end of the walkway in the front, then everyone can pull up way further. Please don't try to pass each other, but just be patient. Staff are out there to help keep the cars moving and keep the kids contained to one area so they aren't getting in cars all over the property. Although picking your kids up in other areas is helpful to you, it slows down the entire system when we are not consistent. Be patient. The plan will work and the afternoon dismissal time will shrink more and more each day.
3) Traffic - I am embedding 4 maps into this e-mail blast to help communicate how traffic is expected to run. Map #1 - Morning Dropoff Map is a map of Leaman Junior High for MORNING DISMISSAL. You have 3 different rows to pull down and drop off your children to save time. You do not need to go in the largest loop only. Map #2 - Afternoon Dismissal Map is a detailed map of AFTERNOON DISMISSAL. Notice that nobody can come through the side gate while our cars are leaving other than a bus. We will have security at the gate to stop people from going to the back of the school. Also, notice that we need everyone to stay in one large loop, or park in the outer lot and wait. That way, we can keep the line moving quickly and hopefully have everyone out of here by 4:00 PM. Map #3 - Afternoon Dismissal with Flow to Surrounding Areas is a map showing you that we encourage all cars to exit to the NORTH of our property and avoid coming back down the road to the light. You will get back to FM 1093 quicker doing this than coming back down Charger Way.
Fun Food Friday 9/30
The counselors will be selling snacks and treats, so bring your cash in hand and enjoy. There is no limit to how much you can snack. All proceeds from the counselors will be used to bring social emotional programs to Leaman and support the Classcraft PBIS School Store.

PBIS Donations
PBIS Expectations & Rewards - PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports. One large piece is explaining expectations upfront. Another piece is rewarding students when we see those focused on positive behaviors. 3 campus-wide expectations posters (CLICK HERE) are placed throughout the campus. Teachers will take time during the first day or two to explain these rules in detail and help students understand what they look like. Our campus is also implementing new software (Classcraft) to encourage students to earn rewards and use them in many different ways. Here is a short video on how Classcraft works: https://youtu.be/M2uqd9ZOMaw. Please have your child download the app on their device and log into Classlink on the LCISD webpage (at the top) to start to explore what this is all about. They do NOT need a phone to do this. It can be done on a laptop or computer.
Parents if you are interested in donating to the PBIS school store the following list is a great start. We accept all donations both monetary and items.
We are excited to announce that H-E-B is a proud sponsor of the PBIS Store at Leaman.
If your company would like to sponsor the store, please contact Mr. Kracker, Mr. Gilmore or Ms. Session for more information.
