Chancellor Wythe Chapter’s Third Honor Flight!
Dear daughters – Chancellor Wythe chapter completed it’s third Honor Flight sendoff on Saturday, October 19th. This was our chapter’s Service to America Project. In our chapter meeting a week ago, we talked about so many types of service projects that our members are completing on their own. Thank you everyone for your personal service and thank you to those who helped with the Honor Flight. All are meaningful and showcase how involved our chapter is in so many ways. This is the writeup posted in the Daughters Online Community (DOC) as well as some photos shared. If you’ve not participated in an Honor Flight before and would like to participate in the next one, please contact me right away so that I can keep you up to date on our next Honor Flight event.
Writeup for DOC:
When you're close to Washington D.C., Honor Flights are actually chartered buses. We are incredibly fortunate to be able to serve our veterans breakfast and wave goodbye as they embark on a short journey, just 2 hours away, to Washington. Today, Chancellor Wythe Chapter in Richmond, Virginia, enjoyed our 3rd Honor Flight by serving generous portions of a country style breakfast. Our mostly Vietnam Veterans enjoyed speeches from a local congressperson and the retelling of a story from an elementary school student about her appreciation of serving our country. The veterans also got to hear from a large barbershop style group as they sang "The Armed Forces Medley". Each veteran of that branch raised his or her hand as the singers began the portion of the song representing their branch of service. What a treat! When the breakfast concluded, we went outside in the brisk air and planted our flags to line the street. We held our handmade signs of thanks and waved our sparkling stars as the buses departed for the Honor Flight adventure. We're humbled to have been able to play a small part in a big day for so many. God Bless our Veterans and God Bless the United States of America!
Thank you everyone for your dedication and service.
