Meet Mrs. Engel
Mrs. Engel
“Between the pages of a book is a lovely place to be.” – Unknown
Hello from Reading Support! I'm Mrs. Engel and a Reading Specialist at Swartz School. A little bit about me: I received my undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University and my Master's Degree from National Louis University. I've had the privilege of teaching at all three D#48 schools. I started in the district at Albright teaching 7th and 8th grade Special Education. Then I switched to teaching 6th grade Reading, Language Arts, and Science. After that I taught 4th grade at Swartz. I have been a Reading Specialist at both Salt Creek and Swartz. This is my 29th year teaching but my 25th year in this district. When I'm not at school you can usually find me and Mr. Engel on the sidelines at our own children's sporting events. We have 4 kids so we watch a lot of sports-rain or shine. I also enjoy reading, exercising, gardening, and walking our dog, Bailey. Fun Fact: I grew up on a Mushroom Farm.

I ❤️ You Guys
Standard Response Protocol
Salt Creek District 48 has adopted a new emergency protocol response from the I Love U Guys Foundation. This is a program that has been adopted by many of the schools within DuPage County. Over the summer, the administrative team attended training on the protocol and is passing along the training to all staff. We also want to make families aware of the five different protocols so you can be familiar with the language you may hear your child or the school use.
