Gabriella Gervasio, Assistant Band & Orchestra Director, is one of the most versatile teachers in the WCHS Performing Arts Department. Daily, she teaches AP Music Theory, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra, and Intro to Piano. She spends countless hours outside of the school day directing student performers in the Gold Brigade Marching Band, Pep Band, Honors Band, Warren Central Winter Guard, and WC Orchestras.

Ms. Gervasio is originally from Chicago, Illinois. She is a graduate of Ball State University and has been a WCHS teacher for three years. She makes connections with students every day by encouraging them to be their personal best and explore new music and performing challenges. A WCHS Band Student had this to say about Ms. Gervasio: "Ms. G is the best musician I know. She is always positive and has helped me to love music. I look forward to class with her because she is patient and inspiring, but also pushes the band to get better at the same time."

Dr. Caleph Wilson is a biomedical scientist that is an expert in immunology with over 15 years of experience designing projects for investigative research. His specialty is “teaching” T cells to target tumors and HIV-infected cells through genetic engineering. Dr. Wilson is a proven leader that has been selected by his peers and thought leaders to direct professional and social organizations. Additionally, Dr. Wilson works to impact the scientific enterprise by mentoring students, analyzing science policy issues, drafting STEM opinion editorials, participating in outreach programs and expanding science conversations over social media.

Congressman Carson is hosting his annual Youth Opportunities Fair on Wednesday, April 14 from 4-7pm. The event will be held virtually this year, and participants will have the option to video chat live with over 50 organizations providing job, internship, volunteer, and enrichment opportunities. If you have ordered senior items from Herff Jones, please watch for an email from Mrs. Waggoner in the Bookstore informing you when your order has arrived and is ready for pick up. Caps and gowns will not be included in these orders and will be delivered to all students at a later date.

This year Warren Central High School’s in-person summer school program will focus on a credit recovery model based on student’s credit needs. We are currently planning for an in-person instructional model where students will attend in-person each day from June 7, 2021-June 30, 2021. Courses will be offered at no cost to current Warren Central High School students. Transportation will be available before and after school for students who request transportation.

Summer school dates: June 7th-30th (18 school days)

Summer school schedule: (three class periods per day)

• Period 1 --> 7:15-9:25
• Period 2 --> 9:30-12:05
• Period 3 --> 12:10-2:20

This year Warren Central High School will partner with Indiana Online Academy to provide students with additional course offerings.

• Current 10th and 11th-grade students who are planning to work ahead to earn credits in Government (grade 11), Economics (grade 11), U.S. History 1 and 2 (grade 10), or students who need to take PE and Health, will complete the coursework through Indiana Online Academy (IOA) with IOA instructors.
• These courses will be entirely virtual and will be conducted from June 7, 2021-July 18, 2021. Enrollment for these courses begins on April 5, 2021.
• Students who enroll in these courses will follow the timelines and guidance of the IOA program.
• Once a student successfully completes the course, the course will be added to the student’s transcript. These courses will be offered at no cost to current Warren Central High School students.

• 100% VIRTUAL families can pick up food on Tuesday from 8:00-9:30 a.m. or 4:00- 6:00 p.m. at Moorhead Community Resource Center located at 8400 East 10th Street.
• All hybrid in-person students will have the opportunity to pick up meals while in-person to take home for the following school day. Please encourage your child to take advantage of this opportunity!

March is "Music and Theatre in our Schools Month" and are celebrated nationwide for arts education. Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), music and the arts are part of a well-rounded education that should be available to all students. At Warren Central (in school years that don't take place during a pandemic), roughly 21-23% of the student population is involved in Performing Arts, including the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the Class of 2020. Thank you to our wonderful Performing Arts Staff and the amazing students that are apart of it!

The WC Percussion Ensemble is currently ranked #1 in their class. They will compete at the State Finals this tomorrow, Saturday, March 20th at Avon High School. Their performance time is 9:11. Good luck to all of them!

In celebration of "Music in our Schools Month," Warren Central's chapter of Tri-M Music Honor Society is hosting a TOILETRIES DRIVE during the month of March to benefit the Moorhead Community Resource Center. Please donate new toiletry products (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.), any size, in the donation bins located by the WCHS Main Office, Academy Office, Career Center Office, Counseling Services Center Office, and Performing Arts Center. Upon completing the registration, each student will receive their ticket number which they will need to keep handy for when they log in for the event. On April 16th, students will log into the Bizzabo website and click through each session to be inspired, educated and motivated.
