Principal's Point

There is always something magical about March. An Indiana March could bring a snowstorm or a 70 degree weekend. March also houses Warren’s Spring Break and the beginning of March Madness. One exciting opportunity that March gives us is the start to standardized... I know what you are thinking...TESTING! Really? Yes! Students, families and staff work hard each year to ensure learning and growth is taking place. While standardized tests do not determine who we are, they do give us information about what and how we are taking advantage of this learning window. I am confident that the proper approach to attendance, focusing on making good choices, and working hard, coupled with testing results, will paint the picture we all have in our hearts. We are a great group of people supporting each other and working hard to be our best which will lead us to success! #HAWKPRIDE #TAKEACTION

The BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION program is changing the way we can earn cash for our school! Instead of clipping box tops, all box tops will be earned digitally by scanning

your receipt.

It’s easy to download the BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION APP, create an account,find and select Hawthorne Elementary School by searching zip code 46219,and get ready to scan!
Now you can open the app, scan the receipt, (if it is too long, click on the + sign and it will let you scan in sections), and if there are any products that participate in the program,they will automatically be added to Hawthorne’s account.

To Report Your Child Absent...

Please call the school nurse at 532-3954. Leave your child's name, teacher's name and the reason for the absence. Spanish? Call 317-532-3980 ext. 3981

INFECTION PREVENTION:


  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol based hand sanitizer.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Stay home when you are sick.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces, ie cell phones...
