As you receive this newsletter full of back-to-school information, I hope that you are enjoying a wonderful summer spending quality time with family and friends or doing whatever brings you joy. The 2022-23 school year starts on Wednesday, September 7th, which means that it's time to start planning for back-to-school (sorry, kids). We look forward to seeing our families back at school for what we know will be an extremely successful year.

Attention Students: I'll be meeting, once each month, with a group of student leaders as part of my Principal's Cabinet. The purpose of this group is to identify areas of improvement for our school community, and work collaboratively to make our school the best that it can be. We are looking for a few individuals from each of the six grade levels to join. Please stop in or email me during the first week of school to express your interest in joining. Additional information on meeting dates and times will be forthcoming.

Our district has adopted a new, streamlined, communication system called Parent Square. This platform allows us to get information to you most efficiently through one platform. If you have not already done so, please us the information below to sign up for Parent Square. It is also extremely important that you update your phone and email information with our office so that you can be sure you are receiving information.

Middle school/high school student schedules will be in the mail soon. You can expect to find them in your mailbox during the week of August 15th.

Students will be each be issued an individual Chromebook for this school year. Students in grades seven through ten will pick up their devices in a predetermined location each morning and return it to that same location at the end of the school day. Charging points will be available at lunch time and in other select locations. Those students who need to borrow a device for the evening are asked to sign one out in the library at the end of the day.

As part of this technology pilot, students in grades 11 and 12 will be allowed to transport their Chromebook to and from school each day. We ask that you speak with your junior and/or senior to determine the safest way to transport their device.

If your student wishes to bring their own laptop to school, they will have access to our guest wifi. Please indicate your student's preference to bring their own device to school each day on the linked agreement below.

Students will no longer be able to request bus passes to travel to and from friend's houses. Please limit student travel requests to home or care locations for the duration of the school year.

Student lockers are back! We are excited to be able to offer lockers to every student this year. We ask that all students rent a lock from the main office for the duration of the school year. Locks can be rented for $5.00, and money will be returned to those students who turn in their locks at the end of the school year. For safety and security reasons, we can only allow school-issued locks on lockers. Please remind your student that they should not share their locker with another student, or allow other students to access their locker.

This fall, ‘back to school’ will also mean ‘back to student meal rates’ for nutritious school meals. Schools will transition back to requiring family applications for free and reduced-price meals to meet USDA requirements. Learn more on our district page.

Please review the following updates from nurse Lounsbury:

• The Meningococcal Vaccine is required for 7th and 12th grade students.
• Physicals are required for students in grades 7, 9, 11, new students, and those who would like to play sports. Our medical director will provide physicals in the Health office on August 22nd. Please email Mrs. Lounsbury if you would like to sign up.
• Parents: Please send in proof of vaccines by the first day of school. If proof of vaccine is not received by 14 days after the first day of school, students will be excluded until proof of vaccination is received.
