The purpose of small groups is to bring students with similar needs or concerns together to share, problem solve, and connect with their peers to enhance their social and emotional development. Small group counseling is available to all students and will take place throughout the year. Groups typically range in size from 4 to 5 students and meet 4-5 times total during the normal school day.

GOLD, FIGHT, WIN DAY, SEPT 15

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and Humble ISD is excited to continue the partnership with three local non-profits, Addi's Faith Foundation, L3 Foundation, and Mothers Against Cancer, to support families battling pediatric cancer.

You can show your support by wearing a GFW shirt (or any gold shirt) on September 15, which is Humble ISD's Gold Fight Win Day! Families can purchase GFW shirts at Ace Hardware at both Kingwood and Atascocita locations and Pretty Little Things in Kingwood. Campuses or organizations can make bulk orders (25 or more) here.

• I have started our annual required state screenings of vision and hearing testing! These screenings are required for Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 5th graders. Please make sure your child is wearing or has their glasses or contact lenses with them every day if they have been previously prescribed. I will also notify you if a referral is going to be sent home for a further evaluation by a doctor.

• Remember to always keep a change of clothes (including socks and underwear) in your child’s backpack. You never know when they might need them!

• Please also keep your student home if they are feeling sick or have had a fever of 100.0 degrees or higher in the past 24 hours. Call me at 281-641-2105 if you have any questions on when or how long to keep your student home.

As a reminder, breakfast and lunch are not free as they have been in the past. The National School Lunch Program, as administered by the Humble ISD Child Nutrition Department, provides free and reduced-priced meals for students who fall within the eligibility guidelines. Your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced-price meals. The reduced price is $.30 for breakfast and $.40 for lunch for all campuses. I would encourage you to visit the Humble ISD Child Nutrition site to find out more information related to the application process.
