Happy New Year~

Happy New Year to all of our Las Positas families! We hope you had a wonderful holiday season along with all of your loved ones. May you enjoy the year in good health, happiness and success.

This month we will be focusing on the IB Learner Profile "Knowledgeable"

The IB Learner profile aims to develop students who are knowledgeable. Students who are knowledgeable explore concepts, ideas and issues that have local and global significance. In doing so, they acquire in-depth knowledge and develop understanding across a broad and balanced range of disciplines

Have a great weekend!

• Encourage your child to be aware of current events by watching the news or reading news articles when appropriate.
• Explore connections between the area of interest and other topics.
• When your child asks a question, encourage them to seek the answer out rather than giving them the answer.
• Ask your child about what they are learning in school and engage them in conversations about it.
• Foster areas of interest that your child displays though books, outings and activities.
  

Ask:

• "Why do you think that is important to know?"
• "Can you think of anything that's happening today that might be similar to...?"
• "What does that make you think of?"
• "Does that remind you of anything else you've learned?"

Coming to school everyday is so important. We love recognizing our students who are here every day and on time. Maybe your child's class will be recognized next week?

Parents, if you are walking to pick up your child after school, please pick them up at the dismissal area. We cannot release them to walk toward you on their own. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring our students are safe at all times.

• 1/19 - Minimum Day (ALL STUDENTS 8:10am-12:40pm)
• 1/22 - 1/26 - Conferences (Minimum week ALL STUDENTS 8:10am-12:40pm)
• 1/22 - 1/26 - The Great Kindness Challenge
• 1/22 PTA Meeting 5pm in the Library
• 1/23 Exercise Classes being 8:30am (every Tuesday)
• 1/23 Parent Empowerment Class via Zoom 6:00-8:00 pm
• 1/30 - I am a Parent I am Leader / Soy Padre soy lider 6pm -8pm at the District Office
• 1/30 Parent Empowerment Class via Zoom 6:00-8:00 pm
• 1/31 - I am a Parent I am Leader / Soy Padre soy lider 9am - 11am District Office

This year, all students will receive free meals.
