Mr. Posick's weekly email

Once a month, I have the chance to speak with the entire student body in the gym. The teachers are collaborating with one another while I'm talking to the kids about choices they make, being kind, and working hard. Here is the link to Wednesday's presentation.

I also spoke to the students about a parent forum I attended on Tuesday night at North Lake School. Three people shared information about vaping and it's spread among our youth. A recent article stated that vaping has increased 80% in high school students and 50% in middle school students. We will be bringing this parent forum to Merton after our Winter Break. If you have any questions about vaping, don't hesitate to ask. I encourage you to do a Google search if you'd like to investigate vaping before our parent forum.

Our 7th and 8th grade students took the ACT Aspire test this week. Students were tested in Math, English, Reading, Science, and Writing. When we get the results of these tests, we will pass them along to you. I'm so proud of the effort our students put forth during the testing and am grateful for the flexibility of our staff and the organization of Mrs. Baumgartner and Mr. Binney.

Next week is a very short school week as we only have classes on Monday and Tuesday. If your child is not going to be in school next week, please let Mrs. Emmerich know. Per school board policy, students are not given work in advance of an absence however students can check Skyward or Google Classroom to stay up to date. If you are traveling over Thanksgiving Break, I wish you safe travels.
